Bottom line is, they are all pretty much the same...
for some reason BBTS is selling it for over $700. you can almost get the tumbler and the batpod for that much from other places.700.. wow... for 700 I would want a set- Tumbler with the pod ... and new suit Batman ... yeah I know I'm dreaming!
Yes, it is expensive for international buyers to order from America and Canada. It's expensive to order from Asia as well, and it is worrying to order and pay upfront, so far in advance, but those are the options we have.
Once you deal with a few of these Asian sellers you gain trust in dealing with them, and realise that is the way business is done over there. It's a different story in America where pre-orders can be paid for when the item ships. For us that means there can be a price shift depending on the strength of the currency at the time of shipping. Paying upfront means you know how much you pay, in your own currency. Yes, should they go out of business, you have to wonder if you'll get your money back, but most of these sellers have been around for a long time and want to keep their good reputation.
I don't know who sets these arbitrary dates, sometimes it's the seller, who gets an allotment from Hot Toys, and once their allotment sells, the price goes up. It may even be Hot Toys themselves, who want a return of funds for the promise of cheaper prices via pre-order. This allows them to finance the production of these items and not have to wait till it ships, sits on shelves until sold, until they get their return.
In that case I would go with them, since they don't charge up front (although there is a 10% cancellation fee if you change your mind for some reason). Unless of course you have to use Paypal, in which case they charge up front.
Riko, you really seem panicked. Why don't you send an email to the guy that does the gift wrapping, and ask if you can put a deposit on what you want, or ask if he has other arrangements that could accomodate you. There's no guarantee these will be available when your money comes in. If no one can secure what you want, you just have to sit back and hope you're lucky. That's just part of the game. Otherwise you'll have to go through someone who doesn't require payment upfront. Someone else would know who, because I don't happen to deal that way, but there are dealers in America who don't even have a penalty for backing out, so put an order in with them and if you find somewhere cheaper go for it, and cancel the other.
it seems all pre orders with pay pal, is payed up front...pitty because that is for me the only option. I guess there are no sellers who accept pay pal and pre orders with payment on shipping...
That's a shame. At least you tried. It's why I try to be careful and make sure I have extra funds to cover these unexpected announcements. Maybe try Big Bad Toy Store. I know it says $700 for a Tumbler, but has anyone bothered to find out why? It could be an error. You could email them and ask them if it is an error, if so, how much it really is, and what their policy is if you order now but decide to cancel later, and when they expect payment and do they accept Paypal. Cover everything in one email, saves everyone time.
I guess you can't really blame them for that, since with Paypal paying up front is the only way to guarantee that someone will actually be able to pay for their order.
The other option is simply to wait until after it has been released to buy it. There are no guarantees, but I would think that there might be some available on ebay even then, and for less than BBTS is charging. The power loader is STILL available. Worst case scenario, you wait until somebody gets tired of theirs and sells it. I'm guessing that this piece won't be selling for a lot over retail on the secondary market, but again that's nothing more than a guess.
