It's like when people approach Jim Gaffigan and confuse him with Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Even in person they can't recognize likenesses. Combine still photos, quality of cameras, varying lighting & paint apps with highly opinionated, often ignorant people and you get all kinds of "best likeness ever" or "total fail" silliness. An "accurate" or "best" likeness will always be subjective.

I kinda see Butler in there but I kinda don't. I think this is going to be like Wolverine of the Bruce Wayne sculpts where it'll look better in person but still not 100%.

It's not the Godfather or Dutch that's for certain but I wouldn't label it as bad as their first Joker or Edward Scissorhands either. Fairly middle ground.

I'm going to do a little experiment then. I will show the image of the headsculpt to my kids and wife and see if they know who it is. Kids and wife know of the movie 300 but are not fans like I am. Bet they will know who it is though.

Just for the hell of it. Part one of five of experiment "who the hell is it" completed. Showed 15 year old step-daughter the blown up view of the snarling headsculpt. Made sure no hints were showing for subject to cheat. Interupted subject while she was shoving wheat thins in her mouth. Asked subject "who the hell is this" in between "munch" "munch" and with mouthful of wheaty mush she replied, "that dude from 300". Phase one of experiment a success.

 Ok here we go. My exact quote:

I guarantee if that sculpt was on let's say a plain Military figure most of the people in here saying it's perfect wouldn't be able to recognize it.

Try showing someone this pic I mocked up:

..And see how many people say "That head sculpt looks exactly like Leonidas from 300. Spot on likeness. It's perfect" the same way people are saying the likeness is 100% perfect etc in here. That's my point.

:lol :lol Who wouldn't say that? Pics show it is clearly the dude from 300...doesn't mean the Butler likeness is all there. Just because Wolverine doesn't look like Jackman doesn't mean people are going to look at that headsculpt and go "that's Ben Affleck."

I see leonidas/butler in that headsculpt and am completely satisfied regardless if there are some imperfections... Everytime ht releases a figure its the same story over and over.

Give him a cigar and it could be Price from Call of Duty!!!

Anyway, the sculpt looks fine. It is Leonidas.

Very cool figure. Pretty amazed at how they pulled off the body. Very very cool.

Is there any chance that Hot Toys will do something like Sherlock Holmes?

Thanks to Luoxichuan of Toy World for the hi-res Milk mag scans. The pics are new, but the pages don't contain any pics of the new head, so I guess the article isn't particularly recent.

Not a bad figure. I liked the movie quite a bit ... but the figure is a bit -- uh -- homoerotic ... for my tastes. I'm not particularly interested in a 1:6 scale figure of a dude wearing a leather jockstrap.

Im confident enough with my sexuality to not let that bother me :lol

Fair enough. In the minds of the fairer sex, confidence can't necessarily make up for a room full of small mostly-naked dudes, though. Haha.

Doesn't matter much to me, I suppose ... I've already got a chick locked-in for life.
