I'm curious to see if the holes in the upper thighs seen in this Toy Hunter pic will be present in the production figure (or happen when you pose the figure with the legs spread too far apart).

I'm more afraid of what else we might see if the legs are spread too far :yuck

WOW. I'm surprised no one's mention that the sculpt is new. People usually pick up on that fairly quickly i.e. Aldo Raine. :lolNose is thicker, they got rid of all the lines around the eyes (which made him look older) they reduced the cheeks around the beard so no more chipmunk look and overall the face is rounder and fuller (like Gerard Butler's face). IMO it actually looks like King Leonidas from 300 now.

Are you sure its a new scupt? To me it just looks like different lighting and camera angles.

I dont really agree with this. To me the sculpt looks identical, but the official HT photo has harsher lighting which brings more detail in the sculpt out while the flat lighting and the flash washes out the detail in the new pics.

Paint doesnt look as good but the head seems wider to me. I like it much better. I hope the paint looks better without the flash. Wolverine and Comedian have such great HS paint jobs, hope HT keeps them going.

Ok.. then how do you explain the Toy Hunter pics? Those pics don't have the "harsher lighting" you say the HT proto pics have. Yet the sculpt STILL looks different than these recent pics.

Still has the thinner nose, all the crows feet around the eyes, etc.

What they really should do is lower that hairline or shorten his forehead.

Just shortening his beard doesn't really alter the overall shape of his face. I'm not quite convinced that thickening the bridge of his nose was necessary either.

If it was modified, then they were extremely subtle changes of the existing sculpt. It still looks like the same sculpt with direct flash lighting and a lower camera angle to me. If they would have gone back to make changes, like you said above, a proper lower hairline would have made a tremendous improvment with the likeness.

I tried to highlight some of the details in the sculpt that appears in these new pictures using Photoshop, but I'm not an expert. Here are the results:

It does seem that this is a new sculpt, with softer details. The beard also looks different; probably a bit wider at the bottom. That could also be due to the different tilt of the head in the picture that I used.
But I could be wrong - as I usually am.
edit: The flash does hide most of the details, so there isn't much to highlight.

I noticed the figure was removed from the "more previews" section of HT website. I predict the figure will be released soon (within the week).:Wizard

once again Hot Toys change the sculpt from the proto - removing detail in the process. well done HT, well done.

According to a few ebay sellers this guy's out...

Yup this seems to be the case :D

Hot Toys do seem to me to have a habit of releasing stuff on Fridays. I doubt the ebay vendors in question actually have them in hand just yet. They've probably been told it's out today and ready for collection. Either way bring on the in hand pics :banana
