The King and his movie is not iconic or cult enough to justify that price, A Robocop or Endo maybe, but i would not pay 300 for Leo. Luckily i got him for 119 on preorder :yess:

300 leonidas cape wash?

hi everyone,
i heard some horror stories about the leonidas cape staining the body but if you wash it then you will not have that problem.
i just wanted to know what is the best way to wash it without loosing the color and also not staining the body?

Re: 300 leonidas cape wash?

I heard those concerns too, but it turns out that the 'stains' are more to do with linty bits transferring to the body rather than the cape actually staining the rubber.

But if you want to wash the cape, cool soapy water will do it. The cape will lose some of its sheen in doing this, and you may find you get some colour loss as well.

I bought a second cape, but haven't washed it yet because I am digging the capeless pose too much so far :)

i heard something about white vinegar would keep the colors in and lock them there so they don't transfer over?

That's just another one of those things I never learned in school. But the Vinegar Institute does say:

"To hold colors in fabrics, which tend to run, soak them for a few minutes in white distilled vinegar before washing"

It's worth a shot!

Re: 300 leonidas cape wash?

The bits that come off don't stain him. at least not that I've seen. They are tiny bits of debris that stick to the rubber. if you use a lint brush on him they will come off.

no need to wash the cape

Re: 300 leonidas cape wash?

the lint doesn't stain the rubber, is just look like that and if you try to rub it off the lint can just be pushed down flatter. Washing the cape is easy. Just dunk in in ice cold water, hang it to dry. this will drastically reduce the lint, and can be repeated several times. I used rug doctor stain remover to get out a stain left from his hair! took several applications but came out and very little color bleed. One thing to watch out for the the texture of the fabric.

Re: 300 leonidas cape wash?

it does say in the instruction manual about staining though.
just to be on the safe side i may try the vinegar wash thing.
i also read that people are worried about the barney Ross figure having color transfer from the shirt to the body?

I washed Barneys Shirts and the green one lost much color in the water. I think you should allways wash the clothes before put them on a figure with rubberbody

Vinegar washes? 1/6 laundry? WTF happened to just enjoying the figures?:slap LMFAO :lol

The first time a grown man picks up a blow dryer to loosen up the joints on his favourite dolly it opens up a pandora's box of domesticity that some folks have trouble closing.

p.s. can anyone recommend a good way to maintain pleats in 1/6 trousers after they've been dry cleaned?

My Leonidas is stained from swimming in a pool of cherry kool aid but the cape didn't stain anything, he looks sunburnt. I am just messing with you guys, the rubber and color are still holding up and this continues to be on of my favorite figures that HT has produced. I have been reading lots of Frank Miller books and that guy can write, The Dark Knight Returns was amazing and so was Year One. I read the Daredevil mini series the man without fear and again very well written, and I don't even like Daredevil. It's to bad they never added an Immortal, Baby that would look amazing next to ol' Leo.

Okay...get yourself a little teeny-tiny crafts iron like the Clover Mini Iron II, iron the pleats in, spray with sizing spray (similar to starch), iron again...

:panic: no fear of domesticity here...:lol

I was just kidding, but thanks for schooling me on that - craft irons, who knew :wave
