If there any movie to get rights to of the three Raimi movies, it was Spider-Man 2. Especially with Sony doing a solo Venom movie. I think most people want Doc Ock more than any other Raimi villian. Even I want him and I'm not a big fan of those movies.

1. SM2 had 2 potential figs - Spidey and Ock. SM3 (in addition to being more recent) had Spidey, Evil Spidey, Sandman, Goblin and Venom. From a business POV it seems a no brainer.

2. Really, don't count on a Venom film.

I hope so. I would prefer just a cameo, nothing major. I think Spider-Man already looks like he fits with the Avengers and the world Marvel Studios has created. I'm sure Sony is interested in something like this going forward, and Disney would be silly to turn it down as well since Spider-Man is really Marvel flagship character.

I have never liked Spidey as a part of the Avengers. A cameo would be fine, but he works much better alone, and without access to the sort of resources that comes with Avengers membership.

I thought Spiderman can't join the Avengers? Avengers owned by Disney... Spiderman rights owned by Sony... right?

Seems to me they only had the rights for SM3, so GG and DOck were off the list.

They have them. They announced the Blade Trilogy, X-Men Trilogy and Spider-Man Trilogy at the same time within some book a while back. What is going on though is that HT is trying to juggle too much at once, newer licenses will always make the older ones take a backseat to try and capitalize on hype but don't be shocked if sometimes next summer another Tobey Spidey and Doc Ock is offered.

I'm thinking we'll still see more villains from the trilogy. NONE of the 3 Spiderman HT were released anywhere near when Spiderman 3 came out. I think they'll squeeze all 4 villains ( Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Venom and Sandman ) in over the next 2 or 3 years. At least I hope so!!:pray::pray:

I am really starting to like the suit. Couldn't stand it at first. Now, I hope HT's can do it justice with the amount detail it has and the dual layers of color.

This along with Joker DX 2.0 and Hulk are my HT's most wanteds.

:dunno

This isn't pre Batman Begins Hollywood, and the Avengers are going to have a huge impact we haven't seen. If you really think Venom isn't going to happen, that's cool, but to flat out deny it will is blind. Sony has already set a release date for ASM2 without any idea of ASM's performance. I think it's safe to say they are both extremely confident in the franchise and want to strike while the iron is hot.

Funny how a billion dollars at the box office suddenly makes Sony more open to "lending out" their movie property...

ASM =/= Venom

Two different franchises. Besides, do you know how many "spin off" franchises we were supposed to get over the years? The Vega Bros. Jinx. Magneto. Storm. Catwoman (____, that one happened, didn't it?). The point is they talk about these things all the time, but they very rarely come through, and making something of quality is even rarer. Besides Venom still works best as a villain, not as some cash-in anti-hero.

We technically did get Magneto, that's what X:FC. The rest you mentioned getting shut down doesn't surprised me, but Venom is a lot more like Spider-Man and probably makes a much easier sell. We'll see what happens.

i think more companies will be going the expanded universe way like Marvel did. they'll try and have solo films with an interconnecting universe of characters that they might lead into a group film

Anyway :impatient: :impatient: "I'M READY TO ORDER THIS HOT TOYS, Y U NO TAKE MY MONEY?"
