I get what you say, but this is a make believe extraterrestrial. I don't how 'realistic' it is supposed to be. If you reffer to the artist trying to keep the original concept of the first Pred created, It makes more sense to me.
And this is where I wanted to get to. Just like we have different races on earth, I always imagined that the Preds should be given a similar treatment somehow. The comics have introduced different clans, the Predators movie showed a different 'race' and now this could be a different one as well.
At the end of the day, I just want figure that looks cool to me. It's not like people will be always carrying pictures of the figures I have and inspect them from head to toe saying 'wow, that is the most innacurte figure ever, this line should be .005mm instead of .0055'.
All the people that have seen my collection instantly recognize the characters aand are impressed by the detail.
Yeah I agree with the fact that this is a cool piece, and the part in bold was my point.
Surely they would have different clans and different looks, but at the end of the day they should look pretty much like the difference between Pred 1 and Pred 2. Each of them look like each other, but at the same time they look incredibly different. Pred2 has darker armour than Pred 1, Pred 2 has different coloration, patterning, more weapons and so on.
Other than that, I get that this is a make believe creature, but this thing, at least in my opinion, shares as much similarities to Stan Winston's original designs as the Dreaded decepticons in Transformers Dark of the Moon. They have dreads, they have mandibles, they have armour, and that's about it.
I mean, I love the concept, I love the armour on this guy, and I freaking love the helmet. But the body needs some airbrushed spotting, and that face needs to go. The dome on his forehead looks like it's been doing sit-ups on his head, and those mandibles freakishly remind me of Berserker's.
So yeah, basically, I have no interest in this thing because it just doesn't remind me enough of a Predator - correction, THE Predator, by Stan Winston. If you love the looks of this thing, then more power to you, and hopefully he turns out as good, if not better than the prototype.
I'll still be sticking around though, to see how this goes. Really interested in how this piece will turn out, the completely new body, complex armour and so on.
