Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Sculpture?)

Why would an alien race advanced well beyond human technology (and super advanced when humans were still primitive), and have a code and traditions that have been standing for countless generations, take on the traditions of a small group of humans from a brief period in history?

Because.. they didn't. :lol

All the stuff from Fewture Models (who made this Samurai statue) and even all the stuff from Narin is simply art. No more, no less. It's not "Extended Universe" stuff and it's not supposed to be related to the Predator movie franchise. These guys aren't making up back stories and trying to add on to the Predator mythos. They're just trying to make some cool looking pieces.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Sculpture?)

This is what happens wen fanboys obsessed with pedantic detail can't enjoy a piece of beautiful pop-culture inspired artwork.
Honestly, if you're going to throw insults out like that, then at least make sure you proof read your post first. When has an "H" in it. And it being beautiful is a matter of opinion. Yours and some others, that is. But my opinion is that it's hideous, and therefore I can't enjoy it:monkey4

Well then to the ones looking forward to this :duff But I'm going to go nuts if the fanboys who can't understand that fact start flooding the MMS HT Predator threads with this ugly thing :gah:

Pedantic. Look it up.

Chill out, dude. This is just a figure and this is just a toy forum.

Pedantic. Look it up.

The definition of pedantic still doesn't change the fact that you spelled "when" without an "h". You spelled it "wen" in your post :cuckoo:

That was my point.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Sculpture?)

Your point is pedantic by definition (not to mention ironically funny) and proves my point.

S-A-R-C-A-S-M ........ Usually posts containing several "smilies" is an indicator of this. So chill out and don't assume everyone is being serious in their posts.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Sculpture?)

Usually several smilies in a post are an indicator of someone I will not get along with.

All right then. We friends now?

:exactly: LOL

On another note. I think this "Samurai" Pred looks pretty cool for just an art statue/figure. I for one have no interest in getting this Pred though, as it has nothing to do with the franchise.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Sculpture?)

I'm glad someone else found that funny.

I am super happy to see Hot Toys branching out into non-movie more stylized stuff (even if it is related to a film franchise). I am also a big fan of Takayuki Takeya, his Alien Pile being one of my favorite statues ever made. Perhaps even my absolute favorite.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Sculpture?)

...yeah all i see is a predator with a different type of armor and a samurai inspired helmet, nothing more.

And that's more than enough..

Did you see "something more" with the predators, shadow predator, AvP..?? :dunno

If I tell the truth I can see something pretty "different" with this Samurai Predator (I like it or not :lecture)

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Sculpture?)

This is not stylistically similar to any of the movie designs at all. It is clearly less "realistic" and more stylized. This is why I'm such a fan of it. I'm not really into realism in artwork or toys. I prefer some level of abstraction from reality. Just a personal preference thing and am so stoked to see HT doing something like that.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Sculpture?)

Look, I'll reiterate my point- You can only insult someone for not sharing your opinion, and in doing so misspelled a word. So my point was to at least proof read your post before attempting to be childish and insult someone. Nothing changed that point. You are the one who tried to turn away from your grammatical error by the coincidence that you used the word "pedantic" in the body of the post in question, which has nothing to do with my point, or even the fact that I brought that up in the first place. It's just a pathetic attempt to turn the attention away from the fact you tried to make yourself sound smarter than you obviously are, and in doing so misspelled a simple word a 1st grader can spell.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Sculpture?)

I wouldn't change that typo for the world.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Sculpture?)

So sprig, did you get a divorce? I ask because it looks like your wife, er, spouse has changed from a female to a football player. If so, then congrats! He can buy all of your figures from now on, he is loaded!

Yeah, the Alien Pile is beautiful!

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Sculpture?)

It's the only statue I own actually.
