I think u guys are the only ones thinking this is out of scale. I think it's pretty darn perfect.
No, others have also mentioned it in this thread, too. Anyway, here are some photos to illustrate my point on size (though size wasn't my main concern- the main concern was more the materials used on the torso and how they might interact with other plastic costume items over time, and the general longevity of the rubberized/vinyl torso).
While the height is nearly there it's overall on the small side. Clearly the head and upper torso are too small.
But overall it's a very nice figure, apart from the scale issue.
Worthington, Cameron and crew with full size mock ups of Na'Vi and Jake's avatar.
Other shots- if you watch the film a person's head comes up to, at most, the upper thighs or hips or an avatar - you can see this when Sigourney Weaver walks the humans out of the avatar pen when they are going to sleep, seen in the shot below, however in this photo Weaver's avatar is significantly behind the humans so you don't see the height difference as much as when you watch the full scene in the film:
Hot Toys version compared to various 1/6 humans:
With Sideshow Stormtrooper helmet and Dragon head, etc, noting the undersized Jake head. Also note the undersized torso compared to the shots from the film above. The shoulder width/general upper torso size is almost the same as any 1/6 human while it should be quite a bit larger to be an accurately scaled 1/6 avatar. Again, this figure is maybe 1/7th, not 1/6 I guess:
And finally, the alternate head they should have included:
I'd LOVE to see a customizer make this head. I know I'd buy one!!!
