Is hard to think those figures are even a little related, I think a cat and the moon have more similarities than those two lol

My reasons why i consider Jake Sully to be the figure of the year (so far)

1. He's a brand new, one of a kind figure with 100% original parts
2. He's a brand new, fresh, never-before-made character from a fresh franchise
3. The intricate detailing of his costume beats out nearly all others
4. Paintwork across the whole body is outstanding.

Comparing to another contender for FOTY, Joker '89...

HEAD SCULPT:

With the disolay options of PERS & In terms of likeness, Joker wins out over Jake.

WINNER: Joker

PAINT:

Joker has a painted head, hands and shoes. jakes has a painted, well everything but his clothing & the detailing in that paint looks truly outstanding, from all of the pics so far i haven't seen any bleeding or other discrepencies

WINNER: Jake Sully

OUTFIT:

This is a difficult one. Joker has layers to his outift which is great for posing options, however Jake's outift though less-off than Joker has far more attention to detailing, the minute pattern execution of his torso armour, knife holster & shin armour as well as detailing lf the hair feathers make this a case of quality over quantity

WINNER: Jake Sully

ACCESSORIES:

Jake has the Machine Gun and Knife and Grenades, Joker simply has a better selection with his guns and all of the orange/green gadgets.

WINNER: Joker

BASE:

Joker has the recycle base from DX01, DX02, DX03 & DX09. Whereas Jake has a unique base

WINNER: Jake Sully

That puts the score at 2/5 for Joker and 3/5 for Jake Sully

(and before people start with the pointless 'joker wins cos it's joker' comments, i compared these figures based on their execution of engineering, detail, paint & contents and not on character)

I'm getting this figure but I'm really starting to hate the people who make the argument that these high-end collectibles for display must have VISIBLE joints and "if you don't like it, buy a statue". Illogical...

what's up with the fine print at the bottom of your scoring post Nova? I agree with you that this figure has some better scores than the 89 Joker....but I also felt that figure wasn't as good as it could have been....same with this.....something's just not right about it....maybe I just need to see more pics...

Because instead of coming up with actual reasons why one is designed better based soley on it's merits, some posters will just say 'cos it's (insert big name character)' which provides no actual reason :dunno

It is of my opinion that so far this year there hasn't released a figure as detailed as this, which makes it a FOTY contender

Joker should win outfit, so its a tie. :lol

And 89 Batman is currently figure of the year :monkey3

If they do Neytiri, we'll be able to get a bowstring pose from her :yess:

Unfortunately it seems most people want the same characters/franchises over and over and the new ones become ignored :slap

I would think if they went through all the trouble and expense of designing this unusually tall figure, casting new molds, and all that, that they would want to at least make Neyteri too. I guess we'll see...

Keep hearing about the expense of new molds and original body. Every "new" toy needs new molds. Figures are not birthed. They are sculpted molded and cast. Regardless if it's DC Dircet, Neca, Mattel & Hot Toys. Mold created. Hot plastic goes in. Toys come out. This figure did not break new ground at all. No new innovative joint system used. Just a tall well painted figure. They are produced in few numbers then other makers (not sure how true that is anymore though), but not sure why Hot Toys gets so much credit for creating new molds. For 2 to 5 hundred dollars you better frakin makin a new original mold.
/ end rant
