You don't know how freaking expensive it is to make molds. And we're not talking just any mass-market plastic toy, this is for heavier plastics at the 1/6 scale.

I remember someone said they could use the same molds from Jake for Neytiri... I mean how is that possible? Neytiri's body is different from Jake's...

Yup, ONLY HT incurred a high cost for molds. All other makers use cheap, almost free molds. And the plastic HT uses are infused with powdered unicorn horn and supermodel virgin blood.

No really, the cost for 1/6 molds is not hundreds, it's thousands of dollars...per mold. That's just for the mold, and not counting any other production costs.

Also, Hasbro, Mattel, etc.....their production runs can be in the millions. They have economies of scale that offset the production and R&D costs.

Hot Toys has to balance out their costs with much lower runs in comparison.

First, I am not having a go at you, and hopefully I am not coming off as disrespectful.

With that said I am well aware that the molds are thousands a piece. But these arent 15 dollar figures from target. They are 250 and up and when they do reuse molds the price does not come down. In fact it goes up.

There should be little to no R&D on this figure. All that waiting and no new ground was broken.

Yeah! :goodpost:

Get a $1600 Sideshow Neytiri and leave $315 HT Jake Sully alone :) >

He's already 400 bucks. Why not save up some more and get a real WOW factor statue at an epic scale?

I'll gladly take the 1600 standout "wow" factor piece for my real statue collection, over a smaller jointed plastic poseable toy.
But that's just me. :)

Will Legacy Effects make a Jake Sully statue? Also, what happened to the Sideshow Jake Sully polystone statue.. was it cancelled?

lol I'd really love to see them both next to each, see if there's really more of a ''wow'' factor as you claim...

I think Sideshow Neytiri statue is crazy overpriced. There is now "wow" factor to me. Sorry

Wow, I have to eat some serious blue crow.

I posted some harsh criticisms on OMG's photo review, and upon viewing Elljay's review (www.elljay-hobby-collection.com) His photos convince me otherwise, that this is indeed a fine representation of Jake Sully Avatar.

It is quite amazing that by simply tilting the head down, Sully now appears quite menacing and not 'stunned' as I posted earlier. The close up photos show that the paint aps are quite stunning.

Congrats on those finally getting this:hi5:
