This was quite possibly the greatest, most beautiful, and brilliant movie of the decade. Heck, I'm a teenager, so I'd honestly say it's the best film I've ever seen so far. Totally immersive.
Having that said, I'm extremely psyched for these figures! I'm pretty sure which ones they're definitely gonna do, so I've decided on the two to buy.
I'll probably shoot for Neytiri and Jake's avatar, but then again, who knows how many characters they'll do figures of? If they cranked out 5 figures (including the diorama) from Terminator: Salvation, they'll have to do at least that many for this movie, if not more.
Sadly, I doubt they'll do any creatures. HT has a tendency to do the main humanoid characters of a film. Maybe the Mech Walkers, since they did a Power Loader for Aliens... the size and price of that would both be massive, though.
They've acquired plenty of other late '09-'10 licenses, such as Clash of the Titans, Price of Persia, and Iron Man 2.
If HT has this much stuff on their agenda for 2010, I'll bet they'll need to get started right away (they probably have already) and this means the first we'll see are the figures from Avatar (since it's the first of these films)!
Lastly, remember their Leonidas figure from 300? They developed what looked like a full-body rubber skin, painted, shaded, and everything. It looked incredibly realistic. They'll undoubtedly make a new body (probably around 16") and since the Na'vi don't have a lot of clothing, they'll do the same rubber skin layer. The paint job on that... will be truly epic. All the stripes and shades of blue... Man, I can't take this anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah avatar will probly be relased first. They will have to do Neytiri and Jake. Without a doubt i am getting Neytiri..but Hot toys HAS TO DO A QUARICH FIGURE...i cant say that enough lol

Yea why are so many people hating on this movie, tdk got the same kind of hate, people would just find anything wrong with anything huh ? Not to say avatar was perfect but it was also epic aswell. Its allways the popular things that get hated on.

I think Irish and King are saying that Avatar is cool but let's not jump the gun on this. People in general are going apesh_t over this, the true test is to see how this film holds up in a few years. It's awesome but I ain't losing my sh_t over it. Immersive yes, is it a jump from say black and white to color...no.
Either it'll stand the test of time or it won't. What do you care if people think its greatest or not right now? When Fellowship of the Ring came out it shot to the top for me and guess what? Eight years later and its still up there (in the top 3 all time for me). You don't always have to wait 5-10 years to find out if you really like something or not.

I would love to have a Jake Sully in wheelchair figure. It will be a very unique and interesting piece to have in a collection.

people just like to talk..or type. But everyone has there taste, I Loved the movie..and apparently so do alot of people..because Avatar is probly going to gross over 800 mill worldwide by weeks end, And its not a franchise its an orginal idea..its blows my mind. This is my favorite movie and with my favorite movie..i need figures!

Am I the only one getting those mattel toys? I know its made for the kiddies but some of them are pretty cool. I just bought some. All the pandora creatures, AMP suit, Scorpion Chopper and some few figures. Honestly, I thought the movie was going to be ghey but after watching it. Well you know my reaction after posting this. Can't wait to see how the Hot Toys figures looks.

of the mattel stuff i only bought the AMP Suit & quarich figure..and the scorpian chopper..there awesome for being kids toys. I like them alot. But saving up for hot toys figs!
