Indeed.

Sorry to hear about the change of heart but I've been there myself so I understand. This is one reason I seem so non-committal to Buffinator. :)

Have you seen the new Sideshow Rancor statue? You need to fulfill your commitment to Jabba before anything else:monkey3

I have been slowly getting back to what I originally love and that is robot/mech looking characters. For some reason as awesome as these figures are from Hot Toys I just can't get into them. With that caveat of it being robotic (Iron Man, WM, etc.) I will shortly be selling my two Spidermans and AOE Hulk. I cancelled Thanos and bunch of other Spideys and even my Vulture (gasp). I love the characters on screen, but they just don't translate well for me in figure form. To each their own. You have to happy with your collection. Good luck in your choice(s).:clap

One day, every collector has that epiphany. You look at your collection and wonder why you have half of the figures you have. When you first start collecting, you tend to try and accumulate as much as you can, but as your collection grows and evolves, you actually start finding ways to minimize it and that having a lot isn’t always better.

Armored Thanos is actually the only figure I have on PO right now, and the only EG figure I’ve PO’d.

People in general. At first, you want as many as possible in your social circle, and call everyone “friends,” even mere acquaintances. Then you eventually start finding out it’s better to have a few friends rather than 30 acquaintances.

Only different with money. The more the merrier.

You can definitely have too many figures. That's a certainty.

What, you ask, is too many figures? I know the answer. A collection that has more than 65 1/6th figures is far too many. That's the number: 65.

To give you a gauge: 65 divided into detolfs - 4 figures per shelf - requires 4 detolfs. Doesn't sound like a lot but ask any friend who is a non-collector if that is a lot and they will say 'yes'.

If you need more than 5 detolfs, you have a problem.

I have 4 right now... and I desperately need a 5th. And I have a lot more than 65 figures.

So my nine Detolfs are too much? There are precious few combinations of 4 figures that work well on a single Detolf shelf. Buy more Detolfs....it'll make housing that Mark VII all the easier :)

I definitely have a problem. :lol Nine detolfs and a separate display cabinet for my larger figures (Thanos, Hulk, Ultron, Hulkbuster, etc.) plus my diecast IMs. The good news is if I stop ordering figures today everything on its way will fit, but what are the odds of that?

Yep, I designed and built an entire basement of recessed shelving and then still had to get nine detolfs! My wife is a saint...

I envy you guys with entire basements for display. That's an incredible room, dennis.

But I would never play pool with my friends with detolfs at their back.

I have 4 detolfs. Need a 5th. And I have one older "detolf" - an Ikea display before they called them detolfs with thicker frame. I have more tucked away in the closet and garage than I do on display. :slap

I really need a basement... but they pretty much don't exist in Los Angeles. 2nd bedroom is all I get... and I have to put the gym in there as well.

Awesome Dennis, that's the way to do it !!

Also somewhere where your buddies can come and be like woah this is awesome, even if they're not Star Wars fans. Totally impressive !! Well done !

Would totally love to see more from different angles if you're up to it ! I'm also planning shelving like on the left. Horizontal shelving is the way to go. Not a fan of Detolfs at all myself.

I second what Wor-Gar said - that's a beautiful set up you have there, dennis!

I have a basement to work with too, though not nearly as much room as dennis. And I also have a pool table a bit closer to my detolfs than I'd like, especially given my son's penchant for trick shots. :slap Originally my daughter referred to the basement as my "man cave" after I made it my personal audio/visual center, but lately she's rechristened it the "geek grotto". I can't say she's wrong. :lol

Four figures/detof is too many. 2 is ideal and the perfect medium, 3 is acceptable if the third can be neatly accommodated like a towering K2-SO or an R2 unit. This allows for expansion for your detolf count.

Contrast and symmetry is key. A single figure really just doesn't have total weight, two can play off one another and offer visual contrast.

If you need more than 5 detolfs, you have a problem.

Well ****...anyone else meeting up for the Action Figures Anonymous meeting later tonight?

Also I didn't know you were in LA. I was out in Pomona for an interview two weekends ago. I'd have offered to meet up.

I'll take some pics and throw them in the Display Your Collectibles thread...hopefully tonight. Appreciate the comments, I love the place! I work from home and it's great to have my "stuff" right in front of me all day.

Doesn?t seem like I?m going to stop lol. 18 on PO right now, will be canceling a few of them (Marvel) and most likely getting a few SW figures. Key players anyways

You're doubling your collection size in POs. That's impressive.

"geek grotto".

There ya go... from the mouths of babes.

Another time. I'm in West LA though which is quite a trek from Pomona. That's where McClane was going to stay, wasn't it?

Also, I agree with your assessment of the detolf ideal. But I just have way too many figures to limit to two.

Also, there's problems with things like Star Wars, where I like to have the principle 7 heroes from ANH on one shelf but its definitely too crowded. The villain shelf -- Vader, Tarkin and a couple stormtroopers -- is much better.
