Sorry to get people excited for the bump, but I want to keep this alive in the event HT takes notice...

Seems like a good profit margin on this $220 doll, HT, why won't you make it?

It's Star Wars hype time now. They're not going to release a Marvel character now. But you've been round long enough to know that.

I think they'll probably save her for GotG 3, but I hope they don't. That's way to far away. A surprise drop when Marvel hype starts up again next year would be really nice.

Hell, do it sometime leading up to Black Widow. There will be plenty of women Marvel fans with eyes open then wanting to purchase something Marvel which is feminine. And a few weird guys here on the forum.

I'll be getting my order in !

So it's weird for guys to like female characters now??? :wink1:

I think I know what you mean, but so far Mantis has been your basic non-threatening, supporting character. I think most people will want her to fill out their GoTG shelf, not because she's a feminist symbol.

Nah was just being a bit sarcastic. Simply another figure for the collection, and a very cool one. I'm still waiting on an improved Drax. So a new Mantis and Drax (and Nebula) would round out the Guardians display nicely. Such a cool group of misfits.

I got Drax off eBay a few months ago for a good price and was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked him in hand. Definitely looking forward to the upcoming (sometime, eventually?) Gamora and Nebula. I think those two will look great bookending Endgame Thanos...

They are so far behind i'm suprised they are announcing anything.

I already have the Bullethead bootleg, so unless the PO pics for this really wow me (if it even sees the light of day), I’ll still at least have the whole crew when Nebula finally shows up.

How did that figure turn out in hand ?

I had one of them pre-ordered then decided to cancel when I saw the prototype from Hot Toys. The additional pics of Pom with the proto and separate pics from JC Hong of him working on the headsculpt painting (which they normally do for a release) convinced me that she'll come at some point.

^ I think it turned out pretty good for a much cheaper alternative. (Apologies for the crappy phone pic)

Anyone have any updates regarding mantis?

Looks like 3rd party options are pretty hard to get now too

i was thinking 2023 since everything has been pushed back. They were supposed to start shooting this summer but that didn't happen.

That's a long time to wait for Mantis. Weird to think I would have Luke Pilot in hand for a year by the time PO for Mantis goes up in 2023.

Then again, maybe Gamora would be released by 2023...

In 2022...?

I can't imagine any big movie in a theater before next summer at best, and then a lot of people might be avoiding that experience.

Was just talking about this with a coworker who is a cinemaphile. Dont think I'll risk pnuemonia to see Tenet or wonder woman. If no vaccine is available widely until next summer for regular people (not athletes, rich, famous, or politicians) I dont think there is any movie I would see no matter how great its supposed to be.

Im not even sure how theaters are reopening with social distancing. Are alamo theaters only allowing 40 people in a showing and seated at every other table?

Yeah, it just takes one incident where a bunch of people went to a movie and got sick (and just one to die) to end whatever minimum theater-going experience there is right now.

Once a vaccine is widely available, at least the vaccinated people will start going back. It will be a slow crawl though. Once the vaccine is released, they'd have to vaccinate 1 million people a day to vaccinate everyone within 1 year. So seeing a movie in the theater next summer, for most, is likely not an option.

Expect Tenet and Black Widow and whatever else we missed this summer to end up streaming this Christmas. Not sure how long the studios will can these big movies with interest accruing and everything else. I don't think they can wait a year or more. But then again, there will be so little product made for 2021, that they may actually release movies into theaters a year from now that already streamed months or a year before. Mulan could be theater bound next Summer in limited release just to get product on the screens (assuming it does well in streaming demand).

It really is baffling why they haven't put her up for order yet. She's a beloved character and would almost certainly be a very popular figure, and there wouldn't even be a need to release it along with a new movie either.
