Hmm...I would probably go get some Tamiya flat acrylic and touch it up with a detail brush (I already have these items for touch up jobs.)

*sheds tear* See, guys? This is the kind of magic we need in this thread. I'd hug every single one of you if I wasn't at my comp in a totally different state.

I have a sliiiiiiiight issue, though. A couple weeks back, I was messing with my shelves and my Celtic (yeah, I know; nearly shot myself) fell down. Nothing broke at all, thank God. But a tiny bit of the black paint from the sides of the ridges at the back of his head chipped off. Wondering if anyone knows a good paint pen that can touch up the area. I'd like the paint to be dull too, like acrylic. I won't touch it up with Sharpie, because it has that shiny purple tint to it.

That must've been a pretty horrifying experience. I recommend Model Masters acrylic paint in the flat black color. It should be available at your local Hobby Lobby or Ace Hardware store (if they have those in Oregon. I think they do, but I don't know). Get a very fine brush and gently touch it up. It should be as good as new and blend in pretty well I'd imagine.

guys, in my current hunt for an AVP pred, I was thinking of getting the Celtic instead of Scar because he has the additional guantlet blades. Then I'd fetch a Scar Bio and interchange them as I felt like it (I know thats not movie-accurate - but I tend to prefer getting more out of my money).

But now I realize Scar's armor has that additional piece at the stomach, so if I got the Celtic it would be obvious to me that its inaccurate. I know that is somewhat contradictory but I am OK with inaccurate weapons but not so much with inaccurate armor.

So the question is, will someone be able to recast either that piece of stomach armor or those big blades? I don't know anything about painting or casting. Is that possible?

Also, what would you guys say is an acceptable price for used scar now? Thanks!

Furious, that second assembled pic is pure sex... or a less-weird way of saying it ;). I really need a Scar Predator.

Thanks to you and Boba Ben with the paint ideas! I do have Ace Hardware, so that could work. We also have a shop called Tammie's Hobbies which should help. I'll take a look there. At this point, I'm just glad that nothing broke. Some light paint chips in an unnoticeable place aren't too bad, especially if touched-up properly. There are plenty of inconsistencies and smears on these older Preds, anyhow.

I couldn't agree with you guys more. I LOVED assembling the early Predators. I remember having Scar and Celtic on pre-order with abc express, when a part out Scar showed up on ebay. I was so anxious to get Scar I bought nearly every piece and received/assembled him before my boxed version arrived. Btw, the pieces were so cheap then, a near complete Scar was had for about $75.00! He is still displayed proudly on my shelf. Times have changed.
On a slightly different note, I remember seeing early prototype pics of a Celtic with a slightly different paint scheme. If I remember correctly, his crown was reddish brown and I think his eyes were looking to the right. I think these pics were in an ebay auction when Celtic was on preorder. Does anyone remember seeing these pics???

I have seen the Scar armor piece recasted and sold on these very boards...I have also seen arm gauntlets recasted on the 'bay. As for the Scar price...you will probably have difficulty finding one for less than 450-500. If it were me, I would sell it to a fellow boardie for a more reasonable price...I set up Boba with a Celtic for a very fair price. That's kind of the lay of the land 'round these parts unless you are a ******.:wink1:

Elder you are the man, if I score a celtic I shall pm you

thanks for the info furious - I do strongly prefer the board over ebay, so far all 4 of my predators are from boardies (god bless them)...now just need to get an AVP

I vaguely remember this...surely someone saved the shots somewhere...

Yes, I was lucky enough to get Celtic Predator back into my collection through Furious at a really nice price. I couldn't be more thankful to him for helping me out with that one. Celtic now stays with me until death.

$75 for Scar??!? Where in the world was I back in 06 (or whenever these were released).

I know many boardies offer great prices to members here, but I've also seen the winner put the figure right on the 'bay for profit =( (well...assuming that is the same figure)

Here are the shots of the Celtic that I got a few days later...I need to find out when these were taken, haha. I think sometime in '05. You can tell that I knew how to better deal with the dreads on the Celtic...they lay better than the Scar. I made it a point to really flatten them down before putting on the head. I remember wrapping them with a tight rubber band.

nice simple but sweet poses - celtic looks awesome... they look huge and take up the entire glass shelf space

They are huge, juice heads they are! I love it, I don't care too much for the skinny looking Predators that we have now. I mean I do, but I prefer the bulky look more.

My first predator was Wolf, he is quite skinny, but building him was probably the most fun I had with a collectible. Unfortunately, won't be able to experience that for any AVP ones hehe...
