I posed the scenario of disputing excessive shipping charges for a refund to an Ebay rep, and this is what I got:

Well for shipping, we at eBay will not be refunding you for that. If you ever see a seller charging excessive shipping, you can go right ahead and report that seller to our Trust and Safety Team so we can have it investigated and take necessary action to stop that seller from doing it.

I also cannot find reliable, consistent examples of such disputes working (unless the seller is OK with refunding the money) on-line.

there really isn't alot of info I could find on how ebay can control shipping costs besides maxing shipping costs per weight. but since it is international shipping I guess it may be harder to track.. still $350 is pretty ridiculous. there must be something you can do.

Apparently I can "report him," but that doesn't help me get the figures (either for the price I paid for or for a reasonable price at all). And it most likely won't result in anything.

Yeah, I'm 100% positive if you complain you get a shipping refund. Google "excessive shipping".

eBay sets maximum shipping costs in some categories. You can only charge more than the maximum shipping cost if you use calculated shipping and enter an item's actual size and weight with the packing materials.

When using calculated shipping, make sure the calculated cost isn't higher than the actual shipping cost. If so, it's considered excessive shipping, which isn't allowed on eBay.

Ah, forget that idea then. Though, that kind of goes against their own policies (Ebay) doesn't it?

They are probably trying to avoid having customers contribute to the problem, which I can understand. Even though I've been guilty of buying from folks doing that in the past--it's all about the good deal--I wouldn't try to request a refund for the shipping after I bought the item.

If you feel like you've been suckered, then, before paying, I'm sure eBay wouldn't force you to pay the full shipping price a guy was charging. But if you willingly paid, then you presumably knew what he was charging and accepted it by paying.

Sorry this is off the topic at hand. Does anyone know if the Demon/Scarecrow figures being sold on Toys Squared come with both figures, or just the Demon figure?

I believe it's both. I can see how you could get confused. The description only has the Demon Batman contents and the available picture is for Demon Batman only (though the Scarecrow images are in the gallery to the side).

But yeah, I'm pretty sure it's for both.

Really guys, how ever interesting these Ebay entanglements are, they are part of the reason why I bought from a trusted web store, with good and reliable customer service. If I can avoid Ebay, I will.

The key is those policies only apply to certain, select categories. If you check, they mean books, DVDs, etc. Toys and collectibles don't count.

I share the same sentiments, and avoid Ebay for brand new figure purchases. Unfortunately, thanks to the exclusive nature of this release and Hot Toys' asinine policies in this matter, there aren't very many options for going the web store route. There's one in Japan, one in Europe, and one in Canada, and they all seem to be charging rather high prices.

Hmmm. Anyone know for sure? That seems pretty cheap for a pair of Batman-related figures.

Are you talking about the $380 item on Toys2? That's both figures, not one (they've got pictures of both if you look on the right-hand side of the bigger picture).

And no, that's a decent price, but not cheap. When you account for shipping ($45 to the US), it's on par with the average going Ebay rate (which has fallen to $440, with several auctions ending below the Toys2 price, after shipping).

I've actually seen several eBay auctions that are cheaper than the Toys2 price (with shipping included). Prices are still going down. But, I'm probably gonna go ahead and pick up a Scarecrow by himself soon and just be done with it. It isn't worth the hassle of watching and waiting indefinitely. I could wait a month and probably save another $30-40, but it is worth the premium to just go ahead and avoid the hassle.

I've got pretty much 99% of the Batman collection from Hot Toys minus the Batpod and the this 2 figures. Is it just me that is not interested in this set because Hot Toys made it an exclusive? If they were at retail cost I'd probably buy them, but since they are not I don't really care for them. But is Ras on the other hand was the exclusive I'd be all over it.

In terms of shelf presence, Scarecrow has a much bigger draw for me than Ras.

we have the same collection, I dont have the batpod as well :lol

but Im getting these though.

No, he did not say it was out of stock. He said I had to pay $900 for the two of them, and then he relisted them.

He must be relisting multiple times. At one point, he relisted two of them, because there were two back up there (though with adjusted shipping, so it would've been a flat $450 per item).

No case has been opened yet. I paid him, then he refunded without asking me, and I complained to him via e-mail. In the meantime, he's being a ____ over e-mails and also relisting the items.

The question is - can I force him to send the items at the original, agreed-upon price?

If not, and I tell him to just send one of the items (at the normal price), will I be able to get my money back by disputing his excessive shipping? (So I end up with only one set of figures, but they'll be real cheap).

If so, I'd do that, since it's better to have one set of cheap figures then nothing. But if I can't do that, then I would like to forego having him send one item (since his "normal" price of $450 is too much for my blood), and just slam him with feedback. I won't get my item, but I won't have lost money, and he'd be punished somewhat.

I've bought from Hong Kong before, and have received tracking numbers for them. The question is, how do I get what the price of the actual shipping was? And what if he argues that it only cost $50 for shipping, but the "handling and packing" cost $350? Obviously a lie, but is it something Ebay will reject?

I would try finding a phone number and calling an ebay agent and explaining the situation to them and pointing them to the relisted auctions. The guy is clearly trying to weasel his way out of the deal because you stuck it to him. That free shipping for each additional item bit him in the butt and he needs to pay for it. I wouldn't stop escalating the situation until he is either BANNED from ebay or you get your two sets, and then kindly get ahold of me at that point :D

Either way, I would seriously throw a fuss to ebay. At least get his other auctions pulled for the excessive shipping and hopefully get him banned. He is trash. He tried to screw a buyer and got screwed in the end. Show him no mercy. Unleash Hell.

Ok. I got a few PMs regarding the Scarecrow figure I was able to get from a supplier. I am taking back that offer because I'm not getting it from him. I emailed him earlier last night and he emails me back today saying he wants more. So Sorry folks. I tried to help but I'm not going to screw you all.

Let me guess, it was mcpsdell? He pulled the same crap with me, he's scum

:hi5:I'm actually thinking about selling the Tumbler due to display space and too many future figures on PO:slap
