I find it kind of strange that people (myself included) spend hundreds to thousands of dollars on phones, computers, gaming systems, vehicles etc. but only expect them to last a few years, yet they expect collectibles to last forever.

I have to say, as much as I love Batman Begins and as much as I love Hot Toys, I am going to cancel this one. While I have never had any problems with my TDK Batman figures or my other rubber body figures like Dutch, I can't say that they are favorites in my collection because I never touch them out of fear of something getting ruined on them.

While I don't bang my toys together and tie plastic bags to their shoulders as parachutes and throw them off the balcony like I did when I was a kid anymore, I do like to pose my figures and take pictures of them without having to worry about, ripping, leaking, flaking, melting and whatever other issues these suits have. If I wanted to collect static figures I would collect statues and premium format figures.

I really hope I am wrong about this and the figure turns out awesome so you guys can enjoy it, but for me I am just not willing to take that chance. Looks like with the money I am going to save I am going to track down a Kenner Batman Returns Command Center instead.
:exactly::hi5:

Now that sucker is going to last forever. I got that on December 24, 1992, and it's still in good shape. It's built like a rock.

Awesome :) I love the Kenner Batman lines, some of the best toys ever. I finally got a Dark Knight Collection Batmobile last week and I need a cave to park it in :dance

If I were any of you, I'd quickly cancel my preorder and instruct my friends to do the same.

No seriously. Cancel your order with Sideshow. My waitlist order hasn't converted yet.

Man, you could have almost had mine. I guess I had not changed my Credit Card info and when they tried to process the payment it didn't go through. I was able to catch the email letting me know right before they canned my order. :yess:

Well computers, phones, cars etc... do last long, but people upgrade to the newer models out of vanity not necessity.

I totally agree. I just can't help but laugh when after 10 years people will lose their minds when the rubber tires crack on their RID Optimus Prime they paid like $30 for, yet are okay with dropping $700 on a phone they know full well they won't have in 3 -4 years.

Okay so do we all agree that these BB suits wont last for another 10-20 years, because when I buy these figures I know I want to have them for a long time, and because I really like them. The thought of them becoming a pile of disintegrated rubber is a horrible thought.

We honestly don't know. I don't see why Hot Toys' BB and first TDK new suit wouldn't last that long, if not longer, if properly cared for. The newer stuff is anybody's guess.

I live in Florida. It gets very hot and humid here. My BB and OC and TDK figures are just fine. I don't run the AC below room temp. If Hot Toys changes their manufacturing and rubber quality, there is no way to tell how the newer figures will hold up. I have no worries about the older figures though.

indeed, i dont plan on letting any of the figures i have go but what a lot of members are saying makes a lot of sense and is quite helpful on calming my crazy mind:cuckoo:

This thread has been blown out of proportion. Plastic and vinyl are just as susceptible of disintegrating as rubber. Nothing lasts forever. But, if you really want to protect your stuff, invest in some air tight display cases.

I prefer a rolled $100 bill, but a straw will work.:panic:

and even if they do, wouldnt it get hot in there for the figure?

just 'cause you stop the flow of air doesn't mean you stop the transfer of heat through a material. It'll only get too hot in there if you throw in a heater along with the figure.
