Exactly the problem. My trip to the cinema was ruined by a family with 3 kids, all under age 6, who were seated behind me. They were kicking the back of the chairs and fidgeting for the whole three hours (because kids get bored, who knew, right?) The parents (who neglected to consider the age limit) were constantly standin up and down to get stuff out of bags for them, or to take one to the toilets every 20min. Of course, we had a running commentary, the most memorable line was:"Is that Spider-Man? In case anyone here was also confused, I can confirm that it was not, it was actually... Batman.
Despite all the loud family garbage, I look forward to going to a late night screening this week, but with my luck some nutter family will take their baby and toddlers to that 9pm screening.

Stuff like this is why I almost never see movies in theatres no matter how much I'm looking forward to them. I rent them on demand or wait for them to hit cable, and if I love them I buy the blu ray.

You know what I miss? Drive-ins. They were better than movie theatres: a giant screen, yet you never had to sit near annoying strangers.

If audience members don't know the comic books, then this film will have some/many parts that casual film "fans" won't get. I applaud the makers for putting in those parts - but it's there for a good reason, it's not all bad or lazy choices. The most interesting part for me, and one many complain about for being too "random", is the Knightmare scene. Now, maybe I'm wrong, but isn't it all easily understood if u know the various stories in the comic books? Of course, if someone expects the simplistic and fluffy Marvel/Disney film approach, then this SvB's movie will not appeal to that aesthetic. I will add that the film has issues, but nothing to warrant the awful critic reviews.

If you didn't see the ending coming you haven't read the comics I assume? Cause it was pretty darn predictable. :lol

No, I presumed they were going to use this arc in the DCCU, I just didn't think it'd be in the second film, like dario2739 also mentioned.

You call Marvel's movies "simplistic and fluffy" as if audiences being able to actually figure out what's going on without a degree in Comic Book Continuity is a bad thing.

Hi.. No. It's fine, but equally there should also be films like BvS that don't water down or overly simplify. What's wrong with including scenes that relate to the source material which only fans might know, and in this case probably will be more obvious to others when they release the next JL film. Hey, if anyone enjoys marvel/disney's film style that's cool. But variety in the comic book film styles is good... No? Also, it is a risk they took putting in scenes that potentially make people go, huh? I like that. (And correct me if I'm wrong, but Snyder does have a interest in punk music, at least I think I heard that)

I think once you saw doomsday you knew supes was gona die for awhile. It just had to happen.. if you know what I mean.

I loved the grim nature of the movie. It was all so fantastical yet realistic at the same time. It drags on but it had to be done to introduce the characters. Only gripe was lex which I felt required a backstory too. I for one cannot wait for the next justice league or batman or superman movie. As Gordon put it "This is the bats and movie we deserve to have but maybe not the one thats needed right now." It might not fit into what people expect but it sure as hell was a great movie to me. Been a long time coming and I am glad to have seen it.

The new Batman body & suit are looking pretty *****king good!

Eh? Sorry disagree there – Lex creating a weapon to take out Superman makes total sense. He wanted Superman destroyed - couldn't have been spelled out any clearer... If he didn't kill Batman or get killed by Batman, he had a plan C!
For me personally, what i've liked about both MoS and BvS is that they have both had villains that you actually believed were gonna do what they actually said they'd do – they had threat and menace and were downright scary. Also the endings were tense where you didn't know how it would play out, and had shock outcomes... something you cannot say about other popular CBMs.
It seems people just want a 'fun' superhero movie that is simple to understand and you can take your 5yr old knowing they would follow the storyline - with a safe, threat-free ending where the good guys win and go for take-out!

Except lex had no idea what he was doing. Batman wanting to kill superman was just too bad for words. Actually kill. Not beat him to show who's boss. No. Kill superman. This movie is a turd and I feel sorry for affleck for being a part of it.

I'm starting to get the sense that you didn't like this movie.

Eczamurai, I have two questions for you - but u don't have to answer if you don't feel like it.
1. Did you go into this film hoping it would be great or did u go just out of casual curiosity?
2. What is your fav film, and why?
Cheers.

Yeah, I agree.

When you saw Doomsday in the trailer, it was kind of obvious what route they were going to take with the story arc. However, I was under the impression that it wouldn't be so quick. Perhaps setting up JL, for instance. I actually liked the ending though and I like the fact that they DID get it out of the way this quick. It gave Batman a further reason to want to assemble the JL. They made it (the ending) fit. Perhaps a bit rushed, but at the same time, it worked.

Like many have stated, the film started out pretty lethargic and very quickly flip flopped between scenes, in a "meanwhile" type fashion. However, I get why they did because they essentially had to set the stage and they had to show what each one of them (Supes/Clark Kent and Bats/Bruce Wayne) were doing. If you were paying attention though, it wasn't difficult to follow along. A lot of these superhero films I noticed aren't for the simple minded, as they don't always have everything spelled right out for you in plain sight so to speak; some of it requires connecting of the dots on your own, but the answers are there.

Once the action kicked up, I thought it was pretty intense. The inclusion of Nancy Grace and Anderson Cooper were two minor details I liked, as it help give the film more realism.

If I had any gripes (not sure if you'd call it a "gripe" and more just perhaps something I missed on my part), was it seemed like they didn't really explain the Kryptonite and how it got there. I mean it was at the bottom of the Indian Ocean with the destroyed World Engine, but were there somehow actual radioactive fragments of Krypton there?

Can someone explain how he comes back to life? and why Doomsday would stay dead?

This is just a theory (obviously), but I think they set it up with the nuke scene. He's floating in space, essentially dead from the detonation, and is healed by the solar radiation. Even the cut form the kryptonite spear is healed.

Then at the end of the movie, you see his viewing. They have the open casket next to the windows with the light coming in. My best guess is that sunlight is just enough to heal his cells and start his heart back up.

With this theory, Doomsday would not come back due to his body being carried off and either destroyed or kept in a lab. Either way, it would be only be exposed to artificial light (like Zod's corpse).

Superman can store the energy in his body so at night it makes no difference unless of course to heal from a mortal wound. But he just has to get somewhere in the world where it is day to recharge.

1. I was hoping it would be great, because of the first trailer. But the second trailer featuring doomsday made me feel like this was going to be far too crowded. And I was right. I have read the Miller comics and the cartoons based on that and loves those. Also, based on the decisions WB the other films probably won't be good either. They try to hard to be "edgy" that they forget to make a good film. They want to ride the Marvel succes train instead of actually wanting to make these films it seems.

2. My favorite film is probably Empire Strikes Back because of the excellent combination of humor, action, romance and adventure. Though I'm biased because I grew up with it. One flew over a cuckoo's nest or the good, the bad and the ugly also compete for first place.

I don't like this idea at all. If this is the case, Supes would be essentially immortal and could just get killed and healed by sunlight over and over.

Some of the most successful movies of all time are verrrry simple stories. Star Wars (the original trilogy), Indiana Jones and the Marvel universe are all simple stories - reminiscent of the old Saturday morning movie serials... they are full of thrills and spills woven around a simple story that even a 5yr old would be able to follow –*they are brilliant and entertaining movies, nothing wrong with them at all...

...BUT...

...that doesn't mean that every movie follows this formula – in fact complex, challenging storylines are just as entertaining, but they are not for kids... which is the only thing Batman v Superman falls down on, it's not a movie for kids - but it wasn't intended to be... problem is, Critics can't get their heads around that concept – A comic book movie that's not for kids????

Personally I absolutely loved the movie - and it gets better the more you see it. I can understand, however, that having knowledge of the DC universe may help, but certainly doesn't hinder the movie... for example Luthor's manipulation of Superman and Batman is there clear as day, if that's not apparent to you, i'd stick with Frozen or something in the future!
