Ok Im not stupid but help me understand, some info in this thread is a tad complicated and muddied with peoples theories. To be clear, HT cancelled development of a DX Ironman for the 1st film due to timing of the 2nd movie's release and they're rushing this one out as the last figure under Ironman 1's license which is not a DX. However, they are currently developing figs under the Ironman 2 license and to afford them more production time for DX features like p.e.r.s. and such, we are to understand that a DX Ironman is coming for the 2nd moive's license. Correct??

The way I read it was that the standard Downey head would have pers.

I think Iron Man 2 DX is merely assumption at this point.

The facts are:

- This figure was originally being developed as a DX figure.

- This figure was scrapped as a DX because by the time they worked out all the details and everything and got it into production, it would be conflicting more with Iron Man 2 products than this Battle Damaged figure already will be, but because of how much had already got into it and it was far enough to still produce as a figure, they're releasing it as a Battle Damaged figure.

- Hot Toys is currently developing products for Iron Man 2, probably with intent to at least put them up for order around the time the movie debuts like they did with The Dark Knight

As far as I know, that's all that is fact.

Ok thanks. After that and more thought Im guessing if thats the case I dont think I'll bite on this figure after all then. If HT thought a MKIII was worth the DX treatment for the first film, Im feeling confident we'll see a DX or at least another one like this or better with a stark head featuring the PERS under Ironman 2. That one feature alone along with whatever else they come up with is worth the wait, at least for me. I like consistancy throughout my collection as I am trading up my Dark Knight figs for DX versions and dont want to feel the need to make that a habit. Man, its such a headache to plan purchases wisely now days. :google

I personally think PERS is wasted on Iron Man / Tony Stark. I know it adds realism to have the eyes not just staring straight on, but to me, for the added costs of the figure, extended production time, and really little gain from having it, I think it'd be better just to get a plain head, save a little money and get the figure sooner. Joker and Batman had performance with their eyes, but Tony Stark didn't really utilize that much and as far as representing the character, the PERS adds little to the figure, it's more a gimmick than anything.

Plus, what good is PERS if the portrait doesn't look like RDJ. At Least Joker and Batman portraits have had Bale and Ledger in them.

Agreed 100%. Maybe IM2 will bring the opportunity for PERS.

I guess this rules out the Iron Monger, sounds like HT is focusing on developing figures for Iron Man II. Oh well, hopefully Bombertoys will come back with the figure...

Dont know if this was pointed to me...

but the picture mentions them, so I was just wondering?

If they make all these figures... holy crap, i'd buy em all.

Can anyone spot a difference between this Iron Man and the oringal Mark 3 outside of the Battle damage and accessories, have they designed the base figure better or does it look the same?

I see it as:

1.We get kickass sculpts of famous actors.

2.We get great versions of Marvel characters...everybody wins.

I am curious about whether the HT Whiplash will be the 'Indy 500' scene with the tats showing or that supposed concept art pic. If it is the Indy 500 look, which has grown on me, HT can put their new hirsute body to work...I can see JC Hong pouring over reference pics from Marvel of the tattoos as we speak.

I don't see a big difference honestly. They probably are new parts though because although the parts look the same its function is more complicated (interchangeable chest plate, arm shield, etc).

Well, since for the most part, it's the same, I just snagged the original for $100 bucks, I would rather a clean one and don't care too much for the extras in this set, the Mark IV will make up enough for having extra neat functions I'm sure, and original Mark 3 has a better RDJ portrait.

The only difference I see is that he's now 56% more fragile :p

Good choice I'd say! I also don't see myself displaying my Mark 3 with all his gadgets opened up. Bring on the Mark IV (and probably V, VI...no DX versions please).

It is funny you say that because in the magazine it makes it sound like Hot Toys is testing how to manufacture these small intricate parts with the BD Mark 3. The magazine says that they wanna make sure production of the Mark IV (which will be as complicated as the BD III) goes smoothly so they will work out any kinks with the BD Mark III.
