I was the first to do this mod, and am sharing it with my fellow collecter to help them out and save them money. I did both boots and nothing rubbed off. If you don't want to do the mod, that's fine. I'm not getting anything from it, just sharing.

Nope, when I got mine. My boot was broke. Thankfully Sideshow replaced it. So now it's fine. What's wrong with yours? Ankle in the boot broke?

Broken ankle, seams coming loose and matte rubbing off.

i know how you feel about moding figures, but where have you seen evidence that the fix leads to 'rubbing the rubber off the boot'?

The only problem with the fix that I've seen documented was a stretched out boot. But that can be avoided by working fast.

I started the mod and saw that the rubber was getting rubbed off so I stopped.

Any fixes out there for a shiny spot on the forehead?

Mine had it. I didn't even notice it at first. I took my finger nail and gently scraped that area and mine came off. So I don't think it was paint or anything, at least not on mine. Maybe it was from that clear tape. Christ, how many problems did this thing have?

So, it turns out the Takara cape clips are more accurate.

They're more rough than the Hot Toys clips, but the shape is closer and they have much more of the detail. They have the little vents on the side, they have the little rivet dimple on the top corner, and the circle is the right size on the Takara.

It was a very hard decision to make as it meant cannibalizing the Takara cowl.

Happy with how they look though:

Still deciding if I want to find a way to sit them slightly on top of the cowl edge somehow like they were on-screen

For the record, the real reason I did this is that I lost one of the Hot Toys clips. :/



The fact that I like them better is just a bonus.

I'm going to be contacting lforigno about a BB cape this weekend, which one should I get? The one on ebay or the hero velvet? Is there any real discernible difference?

There are 2 velvet Begins capes that I'm aware of.

The one based on the Takara cape, which is very long:

And the Hero Tempate cape, which is much shorter.



Two totally different looks. The really long cape can be quite stunning, but you don't always want that much material to work with, and it can look awkward at times.

I have a hard time recommending one over the other, but I would lean toward getting the Hero Template I think.

If you want a really wide, spread out look then go with the original Begins cape:

Otherwise I'd go with the Hero cape.

i got the hero cape too, the length is perfect for me! i know this figure has lots of issues, mine has very loose ankles but its still one of my fav figures.

He has both the velvet BB and TDK cape on ebay now. That's where I got mine from.

No. The TDK cape is way shorter.

I used it on my Takara for a while:

Even the Begins Hero cape is longer.

Just to be clear, lforigno's original Begins cape is VEEEEEEERY long. It can look very striking, but it can also look cumbersome and impractical. That's why I decided to get a Hero cape.

I asked the same question, but never heard any good solutions. In the end I just brushed off what was peeling and left it at that.
