Still undecided about getting this or holding out in case there's a version from Suicide Squad.

If there isn't another for Suicide Squad, there's always Justice League or the eventual solo Batman film.

There definitely won't be a shortage of the newest incarnation of batman. We got SS, JL, JL2, Solo Batman. I think we're good for the next few years.

:exactly:

I plan to just stick with the BvS regular and Armored Bats. I may pick up one more down the line, but I don't imagine I'll have a flock of Affleck Batmans. As you guys mentioned, there certainly won't be a shortage, though. Nobody should feel the need to have to run out right now and pick up BvS Bats otherwise they'll miss out.

Yeah there will be options for sure. I was just thinking of getting one that will be coming relatively soon and just wonder if the Suicide Squad version (assuming there is one) will have anything that makes it worth getting over this one.

It would probably include the breather, along with a new faceplate or something.

just watched the ultimate edition and it made way more sense now and made the movie better.

I loved the film on it's release, but saw the Ultimate Edition last night.... Wow, those 30 minutes made a massive difference and the film felt 'Epic' as I watched. Also didn't feel like a 3hr film, so, so good.

I really can't believe what they cut out. Soo much stuff just makes sense now.

I still despise the editing during the Lex ball speech scene though

Ultimate Edition can correct some minor flaws, but can't do anything with the major ones. It always will be average movie at the best.

My sentiments as well.

I watched the UE last night also and while I already enjoyed the theatrical version as it was, the UE definitely filled in a lot of gaps and a lot of things made a lot more sense. What it did was essentially give more information and insight on the bullet in the desert scandal, built up the animosity towards Batman from Superman/Clark's perspective than it did in the theatrical one by having more screen time of Clark Kent conducting his own inquest and research into the Batman, and from what I saw, made the viewer understand that Lex IS without a doubt the one behind everything that is going on and that the whole thing is indeed a set up or a cover up and how he went about doing it. It actually made you feel even more sorry for Superman, because it was even more demonstrable that he is indeed the good guy, but was being made to look like the "bad guy". It really gave you the sense that sometimes no matter what you do, it's never going to be good enough for a lot of people. I think we've all felt like that at some point, where no matter what you do, it never seems to be enough for anyone.

After seeing the UE, the theatrical version is essentially like a rock merely skipping over the water, while the UE simply moves in a graceful, straight line over it.

Even though I believe it's worth a watch for the people who detested the film and could potentially change some minds, I still think people in general who despised it will still despise it while people who already liked the theatrical film will simply like the UE even more.

The omission of the scene directly after the congress explosion was a terrible decision too.

If you're talking about the scene where Supes stayed to help those injured and/or help collect the deceased in the explosion as opposed to making it seem like he just immediately bailed/disappeared (as it somewhat did in the theatrical one), I would agree. Especially when the emergency responder was appreciative for what Supes was doing and told him, "Thank you." The responder almost had a look on his face and tone in his voice that indicated that even he personally initially had Superman all wrong, and realized there that he was indeed someone just trying to help. Like I said, it really made you feel even more sorry for Superman, being that he was a good guy being made out to look like the "bad guy".

I rushed through the Extended Cut because I didn't have time to sit through it all, some of the cuts I felt were okay not being in the theatrical version, like Lois in the desert, that drone was completely unnecessary, but some parts were also necessary, like in that same scene where the bodies are burnt.
Looks more like Superman could have done it and that part stood out a tad for me in the theatrical version, like Superman wouldn't have needed to shoot anyone so it obviously wasn't him.

I'm going to give it a full watch this weekend but I dug the theatrical version as it was, I didn't need certain things dumbed down for me.

I've watched the UE a couple of times now. One of my favourite films of all time. Hard to pick a favourite in that group... Just the characters, the story and exploration of themes are incredibly done so it deserves to be in that space for me.

It's still not the most accessible movie to watch. It's a fairly heavy movie and that may deter people who just wanted much lighter fair. That is not a problem with the movie...that's just personal taste. For me it tows a nice balance between fan service and heavy literature. Like a more sophisticated and modern version of an ancient Greek myth that tells a cautionary tale....and is influenced by a lot of stuff covered in the comics and graphic novels.

There are a few more comedy beats thanks to Perry White and some additional stuff that is used to transition to a scene and gives you a better idea of the world this takes place in.

It's really making the wait for these figures more difficult lol.

Every time Jesse Eisenberg steps onscreen I want to gouge my eyeballs out with a rusty spoon. It's a misconceived interpretation of the character, poorly written, contrary to the tone of the film, and Eisenberg channels his inner Jim Carrey/ Riddler while hamming it up every chance he gets. Circumcise him from the movie and it's instantly 75% better.

Still gonna get this and the BC armored version though. :D :lol

My sentiments also.

There were a lot of parts that were key to the film and helped it make even more sense, but there were some that although while cool that they were in there, didn't really need to be. A lot of the added scenes also helped serve as a good segue from one scene to the next. As an objective, staunch fan of both DC and Marvel, when comparing Civil War to especially the UE of BvS, I personally like BvS a bit more (even though I immensely enjoyed both).

And yes, it makes me want the rest of the figures even more so.
