There were so many things wrong with this movie. They even got Batman's character wrong. Not saying Afleck did a bad job. In fact he did a great job. It's the director messing with Batman's core belief (those of you who saw the movie should know what I'm talking about with Batman). This movie is a 4/10 for me.

I for one loved this film. I thought it was done very well and enjoyed every minute I was in the theater. I was concerned after seeing the critics scores, but didn't read any of their reviews for fear it would skew my experience. I am glad I didn't.

do you mean killing? If so he kills in pretty much every movie. And the source material as well. I can understand the shock over superman(killing), but that cats out the bag already anyway.

Here he is in batman returns lighting folks on fire(he likes to do that). I don't recall the exact number but I think it was 3 people he killed in this 5 second scene.

Then this is from a 2007 or 08 comic. Lights a half dozen people on fire again.

Or an early comic. He killed hundreds of people in the 40s.

Or maybe it was just an accident(a couple hundred of those over the years too. Or he just didn't save them. Like with Ras in batman begins..

image.jpeg

Or a little more personal. And with a smile!

He fights a strong man, hits the guy. Guy smiles. Batman smiles and dude looks down to see batman put 3 sticks of dynamite on his chest. And as the guy on forged in fire says...that will killl

Here's more of those early days. Killing all those pesky Asian folks...

image.jpeg

Or Darkseid. (Or at least trying)

image.jpeg

Then there's the run in "year two" where he runs around shooting people with the gun that killed his parents. Or when he locked a guy in a sewer to starve to death.

I haven't seen this film yet, but I loved John Carter and Lone Ranger. Like LOVED those films. And I know that there's A LOT wrong with both of them. With Carter it's the story, it's ****ed up, with Lone Ranger, it's a mix of things, but fact is: I love those films.
I hated Man of Steel, I hope this is better. But my point is, you can see **** and still love it. We all do. It doesn't change the fact that it is ****. But with Carter and Lone Ranger - I don't care. Some things clearly don't work, but other things work very well.

Yeah there's plenty of things I know are **** but I like and enjoy anyways. Life needs guilty pleasures.

That 07/08 comic is All Star Batman and Robin and is non canon. It's also know for being completely insane and is where the whole "Goddamn Batman" thing started. Not that that disproves your point, he's been depicted killing many times in many mediums.

Yeah I've heard that. Same with the year two story line. But those are not the only cases of it, just the most visible ones. I was just trying to make the point that what happens in BvS is not new or unique to the DC mythos. It's happened in multiple story arcs in every generation since batman was created. And even in the films I see people compare BvS to negatively.

I'd argue that Keaton killed as many, if not more thugs than Affleck. As far as I'm concerned, lighting a guy on fire with the jets of the batmobile is at the very least as dark as anything Batfleck did.

No one is going to win the debate of whether or not it's a good movie. Tastes differ. However, the fact that opinions are so varied, from "great" to "mediocre" to "crap", does speak volumes to the overall success of the filmmakers to tell a cohesive story. This film, for as much as I liked it overall, has some serious failings, and anyone being honest, will have to admit that. And Motuxman, with all due respect, for as much as we can all appreciate your insiders pov, your opinion is far from objective. I've been in your shoes, and it can be hard to take even constructive criticism when it's piled on top of possibly unduly harsh reviews, particularly knowing how hard you and others worked on something.

The funny thing is:

Those who dislike look at those who like and think:
"These people are stupid. The specialists (critics) had the same opinion I had. I'm smart".

Those who like look at those who didn't and think:
"These people are stupid. They can't decide for themselves and go with the critics opinion. Not me. I'm smart".

When in the end, it all boils down to people trying to believe that their opinion is the "right one".

BTW, I loved the movie. I feel sorry for those that didn't. I wish you had the same experience I had.

Actually, it's sub-par according to me :lol Fans on Cinemascore also gave Catwoman and Green Lantern a B, so I don't think I'll be looking to the masses to dictate my preferences at this time.

Trust me, I hear you there. Lol. However it's not often that ALL four are unanimous though. So that was significant for me.

I went in with low expectations and I ended up enjoying it. Wonder Woman was soooo hot ha

It's like people can't accept that, like it or not, it's a bad film.

But for those who did like it, their perspective is the exact opposite (Like it or not, it's a good film. It's like people can't accept that). So who's to dictate whose opinion is "right"? Rhetorical question, because the answer is nobody, it's all subjective. Just because someone's opinion is that it's bad doesn't make it a "fact" that it's a bad film, simply because that's what YOU thought because conversely, someone who thought it was good can easily say it's a "fact" that it's good simply because that's what THEY thought.

don't bother trying to convince the people who didn't like it- revel in the fact it was your kind of film and let's talk about all the great stuff that made us like it...

I'm not trying to convince anyone at all that it was a good film, because they are entitled to their opinion, just as everyone else. You either like or dislike something, nothing wrong with that.

My point is that just because one dislikes a film, doesn't make it a "fact" that it was bad simply because your opinion was that it was bad, and vice versa. Doesn't mean that if you thought it was bad that everyone who thought it was good is wrong, and vice versa.
