Re: Speculation : Hot Toys Disney+ Figures "The Mandalorian" + "Cassian" + "Kenobi"

This occurred to me as well, although I really liked the design aesthetic. I think the long lekku on females were originally designed to further distinguish the genders, and longer lekku equated to being more feminine or sexier. For Torgruta kids, having short lekku that continue to grow as they mature makes sense. Maybe Lucas will provide some type of in-canon explanation for Ahsoka’s relatively shorter lekku length and montral height (for example maybe she clips the lekku to control the length for practical or religious purposes). I might be wrong, but I believe the physiological purpose of lekku was to store excess fat for nutrition and montrals are like antennae. So another explanation could be that the lekku length may have adapted to the planet’s distinct environment or climate. From what I can tell there hasn’t been an outcry from the fandom, so they may never address it or briefly touch on in a comic or visual dictionary.

Really? Because every discussion thread on Reddit etc. is filled with people mentioning it and being confused by it, and who can blame them. I've seen quite a few people confused about the timeline and her age because in Rebels we are being shown one thing, and in Mando we are being shown another. I really think she would have looked better had they been a little longer.

Now Mando has got a big-black-long @ss Beskar spear, we're definitely going to see some amazing saber close combat duel between him and Gideon in the final episode!

and embrace yourself, all of you, we're going to witness Luke...possibly :yess:

He is going to use it to increase Beskar the armour pieces. So basically there will be another figure with more Beskar coming out next year.

Re: Speculation : Hot Toys Disney+ Figures "The Mandalorian" + "Cassian" + "Kenobi"

I'm not to interested in Bo Katan, but I'd definitely buy a Mando Ahsoka after watching the new episode.

:lecture Same here. I preface with the note that I haven't watch much of the "Clone Wars" or "Rebels", but was more impressed with the Ahsoka character than the Bo Katan trio, which seemed a bit forced.

The planet jumping / video game levels type of storylines are great for introducing new characters and worlds but it is getting a little tiresome. (... Go here, meet this person... repeat, repeat...)

Re: Speculation : Hot Toys Disney+ Figures "The Mandalorian" + "Cassian" + "Kenobi"

Reusing the Clone Wars head sculpt would go against HT?s brand and design philosophy.

Tell that to Luke and Leia collectors and see what sort of answer you get. Hot Toys is renowned for re-using headsculpts these last few years.

The Clone Wars is a realistic headsculpt. It certainly doesn't look like an animated version. It's also pretty close to resembling Rosario, so there is a chance. It's certainly not out of the question.

But sure, I hope they do do another sculpt.

Yeah I agree, that does look better. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried it and it just didn't look natural or didn't sit properly.

But yes, they should have gone the CGI route at least for the moving shots.

But the OT takes place over a few years, not 28. Ahsoka is 17 by the end of The Clone Wars, she's 45 in The Mandalorian. Re-using the sculpt just wouldn't work at all.

But nothing is a certainty with Hot Toys these days.

I'm sure ILM would have knocked either full CGI or CGI enhancements out of the park.

Re: Speculation : Hot Toys Disney+ Figures "The Mandalorian" + "Cassian" + "Kenobi"

Don't get me wrong I'm all in for a new sculpt. Just saying there is that chance.

I love her Mando outfit though compared to the CW figure. Hot Toys will do that justice I'm sure.

Re: the Lekkus. They did look a bit better than the ones from that girl on the Prison episode. They looked pretty fake. So yeah, CGI is the way. Maybe budget was used up on excessive use of the fog machine ? :lol

That looks way better. Also I wish they?d digitally removed the creases in the lekku, as they made it look very rubbery. Still, it?s a work in progress, I?m sure they?ll have her look perfected by the time of her own show.

I actually think they are intentional to add texture and age to her.

Re: Speculation : Hot Toys Disney+ Figures "The Mandalorian" + "Cassian" + "Kenobi"

Yeah the lekku might have looked better longer, but I'm not too bothered by the lack of continuity with her animation versions, given how highly stylized and exaggerated everything was on those shows anyway. I always expected her design would get altered slightly for live action.

This is a good point. At first I was questioning why it was so short in comparison to her animated counterparts but then again look how exaggerated dooku?s face was in the clone wars lol

Re: Speculation : Hot Toys Disney+ Figures "The Mandalorian" + "Cassian" + "Kenobi"

Exaggeration in animation is OK, but we have a live action Shaak Ti before us which shows that lekku must be longer. They added textures to show aging or battle scar, but they looked like pillow creases. Also, since lekku were short, they lacked weight and moved like a preshaped plush rather than moving freely. They should have spent the money on lekkus rather than lothcats or tree eating creatures.
The montrals must have been bigger and more upwards rather than backwards.
Costume was bland, especially the back part.
Rosairo and face makeup was OK.
For me, TCW Ahsoka is still the definitive one and I will stick to my PO.

Re: Speculation : Hot Toys Disney+ Figures "The Mandalorian" + "Cassian" + "Kenobi"

Shaak Ti looks stupid though IMHO.

Re: Speculation : Hot Toys Disney+ Figures "The Mandalorian" + "Cassian" + "Kenobi"

Stupid or not, it's in live action and proves that Togruta people in TCW is not an exaggeration. Ahsoka in Rebels style would have been best middleground.

Re: Speculation : Hot Toys Disney+ Figures "The Mandalorian" + "Cassian" + "Kenobi"

I guess I?m in the minority. I thought her lekku looked just fine as I always thought the overall size of them in CW season 7 was perfect and actually hoped they would keep them right around the same even if she is older.

Just doesnt follow the established lore for her species though, and what we have seen of Ahsoka post TCW, which is why its a problem

I guess I should have phrased it as “major outcry.” I’ve seen some complaints or confusion as well, but most folks quickly moved beyond it. Some chocked it up to the difference between animation and live action. From what I've read, the decision was primarily made for practical reasons associated with fight choreography. Sure Shaak-Ti had tall montrals and waist-length lekku, but she never had a big fight scene. Obviously Lucas/Disney could have easily heightened the montrals and lengthened the lekku in post production, but maybe they wanted to stick completely with practical makeup effects. Time may have also been a factor. If there ends up being a big fan backlash they can always go back and digitally tweak it. While I do think longer, smoother lekku (the creases also distracted me a bit) might look better, it’s not a big deal either way.

Re: Speculation : Hot Toys Disney+ Figures "The Mandalorian" + "Cassian" + "Kenobi"

You people are hilarious. First it's all the Hot Toys must be made to look realistic, it can't resemble the animated version whatsoever or it will look dumb on our shelves and we will riot. Now we have live action Ahsoka and it's all, it's not accurate to the animated version, her montrals and lekku are X inches too short so it's time to riot. I had to go to the shops and get more popcorn just to get through this thread.
