This is such a fantastic statue. Would really like to see HT release figures of Shaak-Ti, Oola, Ayala Secura and Darth Talon. Even though SS figures couldn’t measure up to HT for the most part, at least they produced a broad and prolific line-up that included main characters, secondary characters, video game characters, EU characters, aliens, troopers, droids, creatures, and environments. If Sideshow had focused on secondary Star Wars characters and those other categories instead of trying to go head to head with HT on the lead characters, they would probably still have the 1:6 license and been much more successful. They could have switched over their bodies to the system used by HT and other 1:6 producers and hired a few of the top 1:6 sculptors. In many respects I think Sideshow brought more fanboy enthusiasm and excitement to their Star Wars line, which is why they seemed to take on everything. Imagine the figures SS could have produced in the last 5-6 years had they kept at it with their original character approach and passion—Rancor & Keeper, Wampa, Oola (seamless body), Admiral Ackbar, Niem Nunb, Queen Amidala (2-3 gowns), Podracer Anakin, Aurra Sing, Droideka, JarJar/Gungans, Saesee Tiin, Coleman Trebor, Yaddle, Senate Guard, Ayala Secura (seamless), Kaminoans, Neomoidians, Geonosians, Acklay, Nexu, Admiral Raddus, Saw Gerrera, updated Ventress, Talzin, Savage Opress, Starkiller, Mara Jade, Satele Shan, Darth Talon (seamless), Darth Revan, Darth Malak, Starkiller, etc. Most, if not all, of those characters will never be produced by Hot Toys. That’s one of the problems with exclusive licenses. Either someone else needs to get a slice of the license or an unlicensed company needs to jump in.
