Fumbling the Sarlacc pit escape will sting the longest. They can always make Fett cool in a future episode but the Sarlacc escape was a one time event that will forever leave a bad taste in our mouths (no pun intended.)
Agreed. That was easily the most awe inspiring moment at the start and then was so quickly brushed aside for more Tuskens. Very disappointing and sets the mood for the rest of the show. Compare it to the first episode of the Mandalorian.

Demonstrates that Star Wars show episodes should be an hour. I would think a full hour or close to it would have included more Sarlaac escape and more time to breathe between scenes. Right now splitting a 30 min avg runtime between flashbacks and starting his crime enterprise doesn’t cut it.

He had to carry his coins in the helmet instead of ask for a bag when the Paradise club seemed eager to please. Then when the fight started he dropped his helmet instead of dumping the coins on the ground and placing it back on. Not to mention he never used his jet pack.
The fact that he just handed off his helmet to a stranger for 'cleaning and servicing' was weird enough. "Sure stranger, take this family heirloom I tracked a dude to another planet to so I could get it back. This same helmet that's a critical tool for things like combat and keeping me alive. Just do whatever to it."

Rewatching this earlier today a couple points hit me harder this time; why is Boba so naive towards the crime world when he was the best bounty hunter in the galaxy? Fennec is comfortable in this world and knows what to do, but Boba should too.
Why go wondering through town without weapons? Why hand over his helmet (I thought his armour was beloved to him)? Why not use his jetpack when ambushed?
Is he trying to be more mellow and "honourable"? He was still pretty brutal in Mando season 2. Doesn't seem very Boba here.
It's weird, as if the story was written with another character in mind or something.

Maybe 5 years of having to knit his own clothes with those hippy Tuskens and knocking out a kids Massiff only to be forgiven gave him a different perspective.

They should have used a lean stunt actor for Sarlaac scene and then stripped of armor but don’t show the face yet. Have him dragged by tuskens still obscuring face and then doing manual labor until we finally see Temura face. This would show he got buff having to do manual work under Tuskens and under the twin Suns without armor it ages him.

Getting close but not quite there.

Use the fit stunt guy for 98% of the show and Morrison's face for the 2% of the time it's appropriate for Boba Fett to take off his helmet.

I'm no mastermind, but surely I would think about placing some explosive device into it. Bang. Boba without a head. Father would be proud. End of series.

YOU DARE compare Fennec and Holdo...?!! FOR SHAME :cautious:

Actually I think they were trying to be nice, on the way to the DMV I mean, the casino. Nice and approachable. Buckets off. Not too smart, though. You'd think Fett would be savvy enough by now to know that enemies are everywhere, and especially when there is a power vacuum. And he's in the middle of that vacuum.

I am about to re-watch myself. Its hard, though to watch characters I care about be physically abused. It makes me uncomfortable. I felt the same watching Mando go through his various agonies. I know, I am weird.
Nevah! :lol What I meant was that perhaps Disney is going the "The Last Jedi" here with the female being the brains of the outfit and the male being the naïve, emotional, needing pity *****... :lecture

Dude is 61 and has a particular body type. There's tons to nitpick about the show, but thinking TM is out of shape isn't one of them. He shorter and stockier than Bullock and others who wore the suit but he's anything but out of shape. Blame Lucas for making Boba a clone of Jango if you want to blame someone for that.
I'm not questioning the actor's shape but the fact that the shape doesn't match with how the "character" should have been portrayed. When we last saw Boba in RotJ and he fell into the Sarlaac pit, he wasn't 61 years old and stocky. He should have escaped the pit at the very least, looking the same way. Then as he goes through additional tortures via the Tuskens, he should have come out looking even thinner.

I think that DakRen nails it below:

Excellent suggestions. At least the flashback scenes would have been more believable and not as jarring. He could be at any shape for the current scenes.

Anyone keeping tabs on the general public and how they like it? I’m sure the shills love it, but what about the casuals? it wasn’t horrible. Just meh with a lot of room for improvement. If it ends up being crummy, saves me a ton.

Funny, my wife asked me about the show and I unleashed my billion gripes. She asked why I have to analyze everything so much?

I said I’m sick and need professional help.

Saw a bunch of audience reviews on RT. Seems some loved it, some were waiting for more despite a lackluster premiere and some gave it one stars. I think reviewing it only one episode in is premature, especially when resorting to all five stars or only one at this point.

I was a bit confused with all the Fennec love because I did see parallels with her and Rey with Crait Luke. But I like your comparison better with Holdo since the Rey/Luke dynamic is more extreme. Neither comparison is perfect but so far Fennec (a relative newcomer despite being inserted in CW era) is upstaging an established OT character.

Friend of mine (casual fan) had this to say:

"This is how they kick off a brand new series?" and "It's no Mandalorian."

Completely agree. If nothing else I thought Favreau(the guy behind the Krayt Dragon episode) would see to it that the Sarlaac Escape was over the top epic. I can't believe they settled on the lame scene we got and felt it was sufficient. I want a redo.
Honestly I was never looking for the Sarlaac escape to be hugely epic, but it at least needed to be better than the perfunctory scene we got, and challenging enough for him that you could believe this was a creature to be truly feared.

As it stands now, Boba might as well have just got stuck in some quicksand for a few hours.
