I think Lopie is right on with the price. The DXs keep climbing in price, but once they get over $250-275 they're going to be competing with PF pricing which, IMO is not a good thing.

If this thing is lower then $300 I'd be very surprised.

Nobody is going to buy it if its over $ 300. Look at the medicom Luke at $ 280 its not going to sell. I mean this has a extra head and suit ok but you would need to buy a $ 50 dollar body to display both at the same time and then we are talking $ 350 now that is insane.

And we have great looking figures like Captin America and Thor at $ 150 were is the value.

People will absolutely pay $300 for this. Half will be _____ing while they do it, but they'll do it. The ANH UU figure looks like ass, that's why nobody's buying it. No extra goodies, bad clothes... you're basically paying for a good paint job on a bad sculpt and a gimmicky lightsaber. Plus like you said, with HT you can get new body and you get 2 figs out of the deal. And a sweet display to boot. That kind of nets it down to $175 per (if you need help justifying the expense and all:lol) I'm probably out at 3 bills, but this is the "first" HT SW. It's moving.

I still think $ 300 is not realistic we all starting thinking that after we saw the price of the Joker DX and that is a rip for that price but what can we do?

Still think it will come in less then that

a quality chair costs almost as much to produce than a quality couch... one is a little larger, but the execution / materials / craftsmanship are the same.

What we can do is not buy it. I know it sounds crazy but if we the consumer use or voice "BUYING POWER" and refuse to pay for this, it will send a clear and concise message the companies. I believe SS and HT are testing the waters, how much can we charge for these figures that consumers will still buy. But it would have to be a united front on our part. If these things sit on a shelf collecting dust, companies are going to get the hint; just because it says “Star Wars” we are not going to buy it. We speak the loudest when we hold onto our money. But what the hell do I know I’m a conspiratorialist I think everyone is out to get my money.

I know what you saying I think they are flooding the market they currently have 15 figures waiting to be released this year that is not including next years releases including the new batman/ joker, iron monger, black spidy , batmobile, iron man and gantry.

Not to mention the new liceanses they got Avengers, green lantern, new spidy and x men first class.

So how is a collector supposed to buy all that and at $ 300 dollar price tag
N
people will simply reduce their purchases

If you plan to collect everything HT makes I hope you are rich regadless if the price was even $200.

That's what puzzles me about all 3 new DX's...it seems like they are ultimately just hurting themselves. The general consensus is the prices are so high, people will have to prioritize their personal collections. You will no longer have HT collections, you'll have Star Wars HT collections, Comic HT collections (and even these may be broke down to just Marvel or just DC), Indy HT collection etc....Or just the 1 grail piece. They're essentially killing the impulse purchases of "I don't really collect that, but it's cool, so I'll get it". The variety. Who knows. Maybe we'll all be proved wrong and it's just over reacting to arguably their 3 best figures being released in a very short time period.

I don't really want to have to decide between Luke and Batman

If they sell out over time what does it matter to them?

I have a feeling this will come in two options. One option would be just the figure without the weather vane (but you can buy the weather vane separately) and the other option with both the figure and weather vane.

The weather vane is pretty massive and I don't see how Hot Toys wouldn't make the prices on these items comparable to the Iron Man Suit-Up Gantry (esp since it's the Star Wars license). The gantry sells for $499 with the figure and $359 without. Since the Luke figure is a DX, I'm sure it'll be at least $199 (based on the prices of the Keaton-era Batman/Joker figures). Paired together, the figure and weather vane could easily start at $399.

Bottom line is this one's going to be expensive!

It will matter. Retailer/etailers won't order as much. I'm sure right now these are being ordered in high numbers. Sellers don't want these sitting taking up space.

These ever increasing prices are definitely going to affect what I buy. They already have: no Sparrow, Indy, Sweeney to name a few. I was going to get Goblin and Platoon, but these newer prices have decided for me.
