No pics of this HT prototype are convincing me that it's a good likeness. It just doesn't say "Harrison Ford" to me. I have confidence that HT will re-visit this sculpt and improve it a great deal (I'm keeping my fingers crossed). Trevor's PF sculpt is vastly superior to this current head sculpt that HT are showing. Let's hope they fix the issues with the innacurate hat shape too. I (and many other collectors of Indy gear) can tell you that the Raiders Fedora is a very illusive and difficult shape to recreate in a real Fedora and for that reason, a lot of care needs to be given when sculpting the distinctive Raiders Fedora shape. Even the wardrobe department couldn't re-create the shape for Temple of Doom or Last Crusade. The HT Fedora is horribly generic at the moment and fails completely (like the Cinemaquette version). His hat is just as important as his likeness if they want this to be the best Raiders Indy figure offered. Trevor understood this and managed to capture the subtle brim swoops, curls and shape of the crown / front pinch which is why the Indy PF is the most successful Fedora sculpt of any offerings so far.

Have to say when you look at it like that there is still quite a way to go with this :(

This really shows up how wrong and awkward looking that Fedora of HT's is

The difference between these is what I think I'd describe as intensity. Hot Toys seem to have gone for an intense expression, working through the brow and narrowed eyes. Most sculpts of Harrison are more passive. Now to find photos of Harrison looking intense...

I agree... problem is Harrison is hardly ever this intense as Indy (or Han, or any of his memorable roles) Could be why people aren't seeing a great likeness.

Maybe that's what been niggling me. I'm impressed with the sculpt - it appears to look right when you look at each area of the face in isolation. But as a whole, when flicking my eyes between the model and a photo of Harrison, there's a difference.

Well, posting a 1/4 scale head next to a 1/6 scale head certainly doesn't help the issue.

This pic has the same intense look as the figure, so I thought I would put it next to the other pictures. Trevor's looks amazing, but it has totally different expression

Good call. After all, HT Indy does come with the Idol pedestal. Was the intent to replicate this very scene?

EDIT:

For a moment I thought the HT in Map Room gear had a different expression, but this picture confirms it isn't:

this is a more appropriate comparison.

looks damned close...cheek bones might be a bit too pronounced, as long as they soften it up a little, boom, spot on.

Likeness looks great there.

Yes, like the man in the hat himself, this figure looks very different from shot to shot.

The Map Room gear probably has the most natural lighting. I think the hands look fantastic in that picture. If the robe was hanging better that could be an actual still.

I can't undestand how anybody can not see Ford in this sculpt, especially after seeing this new picture, but then again there were plenty of people on the Terminator 1 thread saying that figure does not look like Arnie, which for me was WTF moment.

I've been in that thread since day one and I don't remember anyone saying it didn't look like Arnie.

So why did I feel the need to leave the thread until the figure was released?

Because of the whole 'whose worse, complainers or complainers about complainers' argument probably.

As I recall people were preemptively striking out against people complaining simply because they expected it when in fact there was no one complaining....at least not to any extreme as might be seen elsewhere.
