I finally found it! The ORIGINAL 1989 Batman teaser trailer (from November 1988, actually). Absolutely one of my favorite trailers of all time. Love that it has no music and just the raw on-set sound (notice Keaton's pre-digitized delivery of "I'm Batman", which I still prefer to the one in the finished movie, actually):

I worked at an AMC theater when this trailer hit. I must have watched this about 17,000 times in those days. When I was at work I never missed watching this trailer before whatever films it was attached to at the time. :rock

Yeah most blockbuster trailers these day are mostly black with a bit of text and quick flashes of footage.

So fast and over its supposed to build anticipation, but to actually see it you have to scrub the trailers just to know what the ____ is going on.

Well thats more for teasers really.

I know. Yet it's the rawness that actually gives this trailer energy. And it was actually this trailer that created the buzz for the movie. If I recall, it was also the first time people were notably buying tickets for a movie just to watch a trailer. BATMAN did this 10 years before THE PHANTOM MENACE.

Yeah, I do like it. Many trailer/teasers nowadays are just too polished and feel too artificial for my tastes.

Agreed. Again, I love the raw, pre-ADR, and pre-FX on set audio. Like Keaton's "I'm Batman" line and the fact that you can actually hear the floor of the set creaking just before Nicholson utters the "You can call me... Joker." line. Or the sound of the smoke machines & fans on set. The raw sound of the grapple gun, etc. The shot of Batman with Joker's laugh echoing at the end... So cool.

Hence why GL didn't even leave his chair while making the PT, holding that coffee cup was the hardest he worked.

Notice I didn't use the term directing. :lol

As far back as i started collecting HT, i think this was the fastest from getting Plastic Enemies pics to official pics to pre-ordering, all in the space of a day and a half.

Yeah but this was the fastest from actual (decypherable) pics to ordering.

Usually we get pics, and then its a few days to a week before ordering goes up, this was hella quick.

What a great trailer! :goodpost:

What are the possibilities of this and the Joker pieces being late/delayed? I'd love both but have four SS figures due Q1 on pre-order already and just can't afford another two on top of them.

Just the simple fact that HT 89 Batman has a cape that actually drapes down correctly and matches the look of the movie makes him instantly superior to any TDK Batman released by HT.

Not getting Batman's cape right just ruins the look of the product and makes it undeniably look like a toy!

His cape is half the freaking character, it's got to be right! :lecture

Hence why my DX02 is posed with his damn Hong Kong cape box! :lol

I don't want a cape box, I want a good cape!

HT 89 Batman is giving us an excellent cape!

Finally a Batman will be on my shelf with his cape on! :yess:

Yeah, the stock capes are kind of crappy, but I think they're passable if you mess with them long enough.

The 89 Batman of course has the most impressive and accurate cape yet, so I'm with you on that.

I too watched the original last night and didn't really like Keatons Batman. He didn't have alot of helpful gadgets and was pretty weak. The narrative was also screwed up since it didn't explain how he became Batman. But I am comparing to the reboot series so I guess I am being unfair. The Joker was brilliant however.
