Actually, that's not what I meant at all, hence the words, "QC issues delaying production." Unless you think I'm alluding to time travel, that in no way can be mistaken for QC issues on the final product. I was going to provide some info on the manufacturing process, but I have a feeling that, like my attempts to explain the prototyping process, it will be largely ignored.

All I'll say is that it is not unreasonable at all to speculate that manufacturing issues are causing delays as it is common with all types of manufactured goods, even things that are not nearly as complicated as HT products. In fact, it is much more unreasonable to reject such a notion.

I'm always interested in another view, but given recent QC issues on Catwoman and the 89 Batmobile, my suspicion is that QC isn't a major concern at HT, sadly.

You know, I'm trying to go over in my head but I don't think I've ever gotten hit with customs when I ordered from BBTS. The boxes just showed up at my door and that was that.

Also the double boxing is great but kinda sucks when the thing being double boxed is the T-800 end 1/4 scale. The package was bloody huge.

I'm thinking of jumping on the wait list for the ex. I really love the battle damaged versions of my favourite characters.

To those that are on the wait list, how long ago did you sign up? And just to clarify, you did not have to give a deposit (only if the wait list converts in which you have about 24 hours to cancel)?

Mine just converted today. I went on WL in early/mid June, so I don't think anyone getting on today has much chance.

Now that I think about it, I ordered one of those Sideshow Fife and Drum figures from someone in Canada and the shipping wasn't much more expensive than shipping inside the USA. I didn't pay any customs.

I'm debating ordering from a Hong Kong seller off eBay on a very particular item. Anyone done this before?

It's funny you should mention Catwoman since that figure was delayed by a number of months, presumably due to difficulties involving the rooted hair. Just because the end product has QC issues doesn't mean that there weren't production delays due to QC issues. There's still a process of producing samples, testing, tweaking, etc. that happens with all products and inevitably cause delays for complex products. In the end, things get missed, problems appear when the full production run is underway, workers get lazy, etc. and that accounts for issues on the final product.

Well they do offer that "gift" option which changes the parameters for taxes and duties. Apparently it works!

Yep, I noticed when I put in my preorder for the 1/4 Batman that marking my shipments as "gift" was an option. There should be no customs fees if a package was shipped as a gift to you. I suppose it will be safe to do with a reputable company like BBTS, but you could run into problems if you need to file any sort of claim so I wouldn't recommend it if you aren't absolutely sure about the seller.

Absolutely agreed, badmutha. Luckily their reputation precedes them and I feel confident with their service as of now.

Chev, what badmutha said basically.

I wish ordering high end stuff from BBTS was an option for me but I get hit with customs everytime, gift or no gift. So I stick to just NECA from them.
