Trouble with that is while you wait for the 1:6 you might find yourself caught up in people's hype for the 1:4 and buy it. Maybe not though, you do seem to be more disciplined than me.

I came close with the SDCC pics of the Batman and then when people were showing them in hand, but I resisted. All I had to do was think back to that original MMS 71 Batman that everyone loved . . . until it was too fat and unsightly compared to the superior DX 02 Batman . . . until it was too derpy and awkward looking with those eyes compared to the "perfect", Figure of the Year DX 12. Dot, dot, dot.

I basically sat myself down and realized that if I bought the 1/4, I'd feel that same regret I had with the Enterbay Terminator. The only real urge I was getting was from the headsculpt/mouth plate improvement (which I think Hot Toys has proven they can achieve in 1/6) and the hyping of others. Was $500 worth dropping on a couple of cool headsculpts? Nah, I'd rather buy multiple figures elsewhere.

The hardest one was the Battle Damaged 1/4 Terminator. I went back and forth on that one for weeks. I figure if I can pass on a 1/4 BD Terminator and a 1/4 Batman, I could hold out until a proper 1/6 Police Shootout. That's why I hope Hot Toys pumps the 1/4 out one like clock work (their announcement was a freakin' T2 mock up :lol), and puts more work on the 1/6, if they do one. By that time though, 1/6 figures will be $350 and 1/4, $600. :lol

I think 1/4 is just to clog enterbay strategy ... They get just too big and i live in an apartment home. Honestly dont have space for 1/4. Basically there is no stopping then. Why not all figures 1:1 amazing details and all... Basically have houses full of some 1:1 .... For me its 1/6 cause they are just about the right size to enjoy the details and yet find a balance between art and toys...

I've only gotten the DX11 Joker and DX Luke this year. Skipped all Avengers, all TDKR, will get this and all HT Terminator figures I the future. Still hope they do the 1/4 PS T-800 next year.

I have decided 1/4 just isn't my thing. I love them for about 3 weeks then I think of them as space eaters. I don't know 1/6 is a bit more magical, I know that doesn't make sense really, but it does to me.
:lol

:lol

That process is already well underway.

QS001 is no longer good enough before its even in many people's hands. It wouldn't be so bad if I was incapable of seeing how they improve it. However I do see the improvement which dims my view of the stock figure. And this happens with every single TDK trilogy figure. One loses patience. Over here in the Terminator threads all we do is swap clothes or something, stuff that anyone can do. Over there they've got all the experts working around the clock to fix all these inaccuracies and then taking commissions that dominate the customs section and nothing else gets a look-in. Except with Commando (our Terminator guy who did the Gargoyles, endo-eye T1 mods etc), and Elvis1976 who always does a huge variety of stuff. Rorywan also offered a variety of mods but he made the mistake of having Ledger Joker be one of those things and so they all descended and that's all anyone wants. :lol Eventually he's gonna have to just quit because they will keep coming.

I'm not anticipating that Rory will read this part at all :monkey3

Yeah you're probably right then. That EB BD T-800 would have been a major test with that headsculpt. If you managed to resist that you'd surely manage to resist the 1:4 T1.

And yeah its pretty sickening to think that the longer these things are delayed the pricier they'll be.

I found that initially, the EB BD T-800 made my 1:6s seem a bit 'runty' for want of a better word. It wore off though, probably at the same time as I realised that 1:4 high end just isn't 'fun'. If they break you're in a world of hurt. At 1:6 your options are plentiful.

Maybe it's just me, but the 1/4 Batman feels very sturdy. Couple that with the fact that the set is absolutely loaded with everything I could ask for in a Bale Batman (missing the damn empty cowl though), I'm having just as much fun with it as I have had with the DX10. Meaning, I take it out of the cabinet constantly to look over the details and I've reposed it 3 times in the week or so I've had it.

There are a number of reasons why I won't purchase EB's offerings (though I really want them to win me over), and one of those reasons is that they really don't look like a lot of fun. It's probably just the combination of things that scare me away from them that gives me that feeling though. I'm not sure.

Wut . . . .

Sorry brother, that was a-dev's post. Apparently I failed to chop out that part of his multi-quoted reply properly. My mistake.

It's fixed now. I think I had accidentally hit multi on your post the last time I was on my home PC then the next time I was on it was when I made this last post. I just cut between the first and last quote tag and there you have it. :lol

Why is Jor El out already? OMG has just launched a photo thread for him. I didn't realise he was imminent. Certainly not moreso than DX13.

maybe they finally realised that they can't wait too long with figures from a mediocre movie, or all interest will be gone.

:lol you might be right. And particularly with side-characters from such a movie. Even if it is Russell Crowe.

I am wondering who is buying that, but when I went to its thread apparently a lot of people buying it. I know each have their own taste but to me, i donno... With gazillion figures out there it would be pretty low on my radar. But like i said am sure many that i like may be pretty low on others radar...

True brother. While some may think MOS was weak. Others including myself really liked the movie. And I'm getting Superman and Zod figures. I feel the same when I see people get all pumped for guys like Captain America or Thor. While they are cool. To me, they are not cool enough for me to buy them.

Completely agree. Infact after my post i went on facebook and saw the pics. The darn head sculpt looks awesome. I am just not a mos fan but that russle crow sculpt is very accurate. The only figure i plan to buy from that is faora as and when it comes as i think there are not too many women figures out there so i snag one when a good one comes along...

It's all about common sense - & your budget, really. I've always had lots of one, & not much of the other.. :lol

You wanna talk about disciplined? I wrote the book. I've managed a couple of figures per year so far; based on true wants, what's coming & budget. This is more a general comment now, but hype seems to be a potent drug around here.. & many get seduced by it - time & time again. :huh

Just collect to enjoy.. not to 'jones', or feel you're.. investing. That **** I said about getting Mime Joker.. probably won't happen to be honest. :lol

I had a message from Timcent to say he had Jor El in stock. I asked when did he expect the DX13 to be in stock and he said he'd have it by the end of the month.

Good post,Vintij.

Oh, and it's good to see your old avy back.

I don't think I'll ever change mine, sig too.

:duff

About Mime Joker - in the short term at least anyway.. I do want to get that figure eventually. :lol

Seriously though, I often read folks' posts in here about being tied up in POs - & half the time they're just 'keeping up' with the release schedule - wtf is that **** about?

It really is an asset, if one can focus on what they really love.. & just ignore the rest. It's of course a challenge when there are multiple licenses that you like to weigh up etc, but I guess exercising a bit of clarity wherever possible isn't as easy for some, as it is for others. :lol
