It's not racism, if you understand Asian culture, you clearly know that if something is not successful, they just abandon it. Without explanation. I have suffered this quietly since a lot of shows and manga and toys from dearly beloved lines I collect that have just ceased because of lack of popularity. The way I mean it is that I don't expect EVERY single prototype to be released. But people here ask for Peggy carters, Faora(myself included), and Pepper potts in 1/6 when you know it will never happen.

I hate to say it but right now Marvel is on that bandwagon that is soo popular right now, that even when you go to hot toys webpage, you see like two batman related figs compared to 18 marvel figures ready for production. It's not us the fanbase in America, but the demand in Asian markets. The only way to win is to tap in on forums over there and just post customs of figures we want to happen.

Howard clearly is getting paid by Marvel, since he just mentioned that we might get slapped with Ras Al Ghul as an exclusive, when he knows there is a demand for him, which will only benefit scalpers.

Those who are worried by the recent news are right to be worried.

Hot Toys has a track record of announcing licenses and figures that they never follow through on - especially for licenses that aren't the latest fad. Those of us who've been collecting for years know that. We're jaded, but we have every reason to be.

In addition, common sense suggests that if we don't get them simultaneously with the Batman figure, we'll probably never get them. The sales of Penguin and Catwoman figures would benefit immensely by being released near the same time as the Returns Batman, due to a synergistic effect. When you buy the hero, you generally want the villain - and almost nobody buys the villain without buying the hero. If the villain is released much later, then the hero won't be available any longer - meaning most people will skip out on that villain, when they otherwise might have gotten both.

Hot Toys isn't stupid. They want to maximize income - so if they have any intention of releasing villains, they'd seize the opportunity for extra sales that a simultaneous release would present, rather than releasing it much later. So if we're not getting a near-simultaneous release (which seems to be what they're hinting at), it's a strong sign that we're not getting any villains released, ever.

The truth sucks, and nobody's more upset about this than me - but just because you don't like it, doesn't mean you should delude yourself into thinking it's not true..

That's not just an Asian thing. It happens in Western companies and media all the time.

I'm multiple people as well.

I did this, it's my fault franpincho. I told Hot Toys to make the announcement. I told them to keep pushing it back. I've orchestrated this situation.

There comes a point when you yourselves (the fans, if you even call yourselves that) have to take responsibility for your own actions. Sitting around quietly saying "don't worry guys I'm sure HT has a very good reason for waiting this long" rather then thinking logically only leads to more disappointment. If you sit around and don't do anything, your not going to get what you want. If you always praise HT for every decision they make and say "YES! Another Iron Man, just what I wanted", guess what more of your going to get?!

Hot Toys and the majority of people who buy there product seem to only be after what is new and that is really sad for the few true collectors in here...

Im sure I will buy the Batman Returns DX, but if they are not making Cats and Birds, then this will probably be my last purchase from them. Ill leave it to you guys to buy all there Marvel and Star Wars crap!

Rest In Peace Penguin and Catwoman HT, gone but not forgotten!:violin

With the reveal of Phase 3 Movies just recently, Hot Toys is already thinking of changing MMS' meaning from Movie Masterpiece Series to Marvel Movies Series.

Ah yes, that bastion of democracy, Hot Toys in Communist China! :lol It doesn't matter how much noble facebooking fans do, if it's not part of a hot movie property, part of asian pop culture, a robot/cyborg, something Enterbay is doing well, or a random favorite of Mr. Chan, it won't get done. Only until BvsS comes out will we see another DC push. If we could all wait 4 years for the non PO reveal of Returns Bats, I'm sure we could wait another 4 years until WB starts to sell off its rights.

This dude makes a lot of good points. :lecture

4 years? I'll be 37.... And probably with kids...

That's both a. very nice, and terrifying picture at the same time.

You got the wrong guy man.

Not to say you don't have any valid points, but you are generalizing. I can assure you that most people posting here, specially Fabio, are real, true fans of these cult classics that HT seems to have forgotten.

I get your frustration, as we all share it here.

Just smile and do what I do: Think about how amazing BLAKE is going to turn out along with the 1/12 bat.

:rotfl :rotfl :rotfl

If I were a Premium Freak, I'd give you the full allotment of rep points for this.

Yeah but think about you can count the fans on this page with your fingers and toes and suffice it to say it's not enough to warrant a release. So far all the figures seen at toy shows but batman are getting released. Other than arkham batman, returns and bat signal Gordon are up in the air lol. I am at the verge of tears after seeing the Stormtrooper announcement.

Unless someone is super rich here and then buy a portion of hot toys stock through nikkei, would then make you majority leader and have a say in what comes out next.

That's my goal for Bandai though

Tweeterhead is making a 1/6 Pfeiffer Catwoman statue. Sculpted by Trevor Grove. It'll be awesome and it will more than make up for Hot Toys not releasing one.

I said it before and I'll say it again (and I know Hot Toys doesn't care, but still): Hot Toys has until the Tweeterhead Pfeiffer statue goes up for order to release their own Catwoman. If they don't then I'll not only skip theirs if they ever make one, but I'll also be skipping the Returns Batman, as I already have the DX09. This isn't bitterness talking, it's just money management. Besides, a Trevor Grove Pfeiffer Catwoman would look better than anything Hot Toys could give us.

I'm afraid I don't see why any of these things are a reason to criticise HT. They're a business, why shouldn't they make what they think will sell? And DC is in a tailspin as far as their properties are concerned. MoS was what you want a Superman movie to be if you've grown up with Superman and want something different from the Donner movies. But it was in no way contemporary or good enough and watching it again I'm struck by how old-fashioned it is - in a bad way - and wondering if Superman has had his day, like John Carter of Mars - if it's basically a dead franchise because other people have done what Superman does better. They had to graft the sequel onto a Batman movie to get it made.

Right now Batman is all DC have, they've got nothing else that resonates or compels people's attention like Marvel has. So of course this is going to be reflected in what HT do and why the hell should they make figures out of a movie that's twenty two years old and which is more of a cult hit than an iconic film? Its a damn sight less risky for them to make Iron Man and Star Wars figures (not to mention Nolan Batman and Arkham Batman figures) until 2016 when they'll get a brand new Batman film that will either work or it won't (and probably won't) with new figures off the back off it. But it's not their fault that DC is tired and dying.

Disney is on a roll at the moment with Marvel and Star Wars. Of course HT are going to devote most of their time to dealing with them, and unlike fans, they're interested in the future not revisiting the past.

When BR figures were announced it was a different world, Marvel hadn't quite become the all consuming monster it is now, Disney hadn't bought Star Wars, MoS hadn't been released and become the disappointment that it is. That announcement comes from a time when BR figures had more chance of finding a market. That time has passed.

EDIT: for the avoidance of doubt, I'd personally buy Penguin and Catwoman figures in a heartbeat.

I agree with all that Captn' but really, Hot Toys should have never made that Batman Returns announcement when they did (if at all). I could see if it was announced January 2014, and we were now seeing this talk of "no plans", but this many years later and all you have to show is a single Batman figure (with literally nothing) that you're not even really promoting plus a QnA that you contradict every other session? It just isn't right. They shouldn't have bothered.

To put things in perspective here, Marvel Studios produced Iron Man 3, Captain America: Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy in the amount of time it's taken Hot Toys to show ONE Batman figure. Making films is a lot harder than making a collectible action figure. When Hot Toys teased the Returns license, Marvel was just starting up Iron Man 3 during Avengers post production. In that time, people were hired, scripts written, deals made, pre-production, principle photography, marketing, post production, premieres, home video etc. That's a lot of work for the past couple of years and the results were billion dollar movies.

This is what Hot Toys churned out in that same amount of time from teaser announcement to, I don't even know what this stage is. :lol

That's pretty bad. Like people have joked, it wouldn't surprise me if that same prototype is at SDCC 2015.

That my friend was beautifully written. 100% correct when you put it into perspective.

Well said Di Fabio. Sad but true, as well. There's really no excuse. Arkham City Batman could have been the same case, but at least we have heard of a Joker and seen everything for AC Batman. I don't really know what or when we could see this release, but I know as time goes on, this thing will be so expensive, perhaps the worst part.

Honestly, I doubt we could get a Catwoman or Penguin at this rate, or ever.
