Not to pit Arkham against Returns, but Hot Toys really screwed the pooch by unveiling Arkham Batman before Returns Batman.

Seriously, look at the threads. All Returns Batman got were a couple of amateur photos from the various shows, while Arkham got a full fledged specs/pics release and there's more activity/interest/discussion in here than in the Arkham figure thread! They had the opportunity to atleast advertise this as the next DX Batman as a sort of quasi-companion piece to Mime Joker. But nope.

It would have made perfect sense to show their Arkham Batman (and Joker) around the time of Arkham Knight next year. Granted, Arkham Knight was originally scheduled to come out THIS season, but that was known before preorders went up. I still don't get why they didn't wait for the Arkham Joker to be done (considering he looked ahead of production at the time of the teasers) so they could pair him up with Batman.

"We don't have plans on Penguin and Catwoman yet."

That's not him. They would have shown that at SDCC and the other shows if that were the case.

But this was posted today though, my optimistic side wants me to believe it will come with this Dx, but I can't make out Keaton despite me having 20/15 vision

Considering our luck, DX15 will be a barebones release - no alternate head, no glider cape - all for the low, low price of $290. Or canceled outright.

But this was posted today though,

Looks like Johnny Utah posted that on the 19th. That was 10 days ago.

Your point still stands, but I don't think we've ever seen such an incomplete figure shown at these shows before. DX 08 Joker had all his stuff back when he was newly shown. So did Bespin Luke.

I agree with all that Captn' but really, Hot Toys should have never made that Batman Returns announcement when they did (if at all). I could see if it was announced January 2014, and we were now seeing this talk of "no plans", but this many years later and all you have to show is a single Batman figure (with literally nothing) that you're not even really promoting plus a QnA that you contradict every other session? It just isn't right. They shouldn't have bothered.

To put things in perspective here, Marvel Studios produced Iron Man 3, Captain America: Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy in the amount of time it's taken Hot Toys to show ONE Batman figure. Making films is a lot harder than making a collectible action figure. When Hot Toys teased the Returns license, Marvel was just starting up Iron Man 3 during Avengers post production. In that time, people were hired, scripts written, deals made, pre-production, principle photography, marketing, post production, premieres, home video etc. That's a lot of work for the past couple of years and the results were billion dollar movies.

This is what Hot Toys churned out in that same amount of time from teaser announcement to, I don't even know what this stage is. :lol

That's pretty bad. Like people have joked, it wouldn't surprise me if that same prototype is at SDCC 2015.

I totally get why you're disappointed. if Hot Toys announced a Begins DX with Ras and Ninja Bruce set and then postponed it for three years I'd be pretty upset. BR isn't such a big deal for me, but I too would like to see this happen as i'd like my Batman figures to have more baddies and Penguin and Pfeiffer Catwoman are my favourite villains outside of Ledger Joker. I'd also like Batman as I missed out on '89 Batman and this one looks very cool.

However, they're not going to make Penguin and Pfeiffer, either because they won't sell as much as other items or because they'll actually lose money on it. They might have thought at the time they would make them, but they got bumped by other properties suddenly coming to the fore. They're not fans, we are, so it doesn't mean as much to them as it does to us. They haven't done anything 'dishonourable' and the way they talk is just how toy companies talk to fans, what they say is permanently subject to review based on sales, not sentiment. We're solely motivated by sentiment. I can remember when Nicholson Joker customs cost $300 and it was a dream. Yet you can still buy the HT version for retail. This stuff just isn't as important to a lot of people as it is for us. The same thing would happened to a Penguin figure that wouldn't be to everyone's taste, played by a less iconic actor, and a female villain, no matter how hot her arse was in that PVC catsuit.

Look at Faora - Howard said she would 'probably' never be made as if there was some slight chance. What he should have said - because its the truth - is that Faora, a secondary female villain, who would need rooted hair, from a property that hasn't done that well, hasn't got a hope in hell of ever being made. But that's just not how toy companies talk.

Anyway, BR has missed its window, that time when Reeve Superman, '89 Bats etc could be made. In the unlikely event that Batfleck blows the Nolanverse away the same thing will happen to figures from the Nolanverse, never mind that it was the Billy Big Bollocks of high end action figures for years. That won't stop me being pissed off if I don't get my Begins DX, but there's nothing you can do. It's sad, but it's how things are. The Doctor Who 5" classics line was all set up to be an amazing line available at retail, but the recession hit and the first wave didn't sell so it ended up trickling out in dribs and drabs for years.

BR finished with one figure. HT sees $$$$ in Avengers and Star Wars. Case closed.

As much as I would love to have this returns figure (I have all Batman HT figures at this point apart from mime Joker) I think it will be pointless without Penguin and Catwoman.

Have 1989 with Joker is a match made in heaven.

Being OCD, having just a Returns Batman displayed on his own will simply drive me crazy.

I am hoping they are keeping quiet and will shock us all with a Penguin and Catwoman. Batman on his own is pointless.

They'll strip it down to cowl, chest armor and make this an expansion pack for 89 Bats.

OMG, watching the Tamashii live stream, the Japanese are playing with a 3d facial scanner that scans the face of said person and shows it on the iPad, then the 3d printer sculpts it. That's the future of this business, if HT gets its hands on that device
