My biggest issue is not the wait but the cost of waiting. In 2012 a DX would be $220. We all know that this will not be the price if released today. We have not seen a DX in ages so sky’s the limit for pricing. If Commando is $250 and a hint of Diecast is $300 are we going to pay almost twice the amount for a DX today?

I said this before….the longer we wait the more HT gets paid!

We've always shared the same sentiments on this matter. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can still afford the entire trio from BR when they come out.

My opinion of hot toys is slightly different. the way I understand the pricing is that sideshow is the ones bulking up the price.

Absolutely. The prices of Hot Toys figures have gone up steadily, and ridiculously, ever since Sideshow became the exclusive distributor of Hot Toys figures. That's not a coincidence. It's anti-competitive, anti-consumer, and anti-American, but they never get any flak for it - it's simply easier for people to blame the greed of the "foreign devil," when the problem is actually much closer to home.

Couldn't of said that any better

Great post. Sideshow's become a monster.

Anti-American? Which part? Where they make toys and force you to buy them at gun point? Where they try to make money by killing teddy bears?

Asine. First, I think the idea your trying to convey has to do with anti-trust laws(which the USA didn't have for 150 years so pretty sure Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson can rest in piece)..and it's only a violation of antitrust if they bought enterbay and every other 1/6 scale or close company and then controlled the entire market.

Making a product and charging whatever you want to is pretty much the foundation of our Capitalism economic structure.

As for price increases...capitalism. And I'm sure a majority of the people reading this get raises, some yearly or faster. Not unusual.

Calling something un American because you wish it was cheaper is silly.

Anyone noticed how the upcoming releases is all Disney related characters? No DC, no in between movie characters?

Anyone who has ever collected toys or bought them at some point should know that it's called inflation, on top of that also, manufacturing toys has become expensive.

It's a business, calling something limited now days is dumb on the toy business since they over make the toys in the first place and everyone just wants to buy one but scalpers raise the prise and ruin it for everyone.

Well said. I still don't understand the people who demand 2008 prices today. I've PO'd three MMS figures at $250 a pop these past two months and don't feel cheated at all. I relish SSC prices. Its Ebay sellers that truly deserve all the hate (I paid $600 for Hawkeye MIB with the brown shipper).

Not really, IMO, its ebay buyers who paid 600 (like you), who deserve all the hate.

Calm down, we all mates. There is no chance of getting hawkeye for any less than crazy lol
Our credit card bills are stressing us out.

That's the smartest thing I've ever heard!!!

Attention collectors: Don't collect if Ebay is the only recourse and the prices exceed $200.

Yeah, no.

Calm down, we all mates. There is no chance of getting hawkeye for any less than crazy lol

True that.

I would never pay that much for hawkeye, it was a meh sculpt without the glasses on.

I'm happy with the sculpt. Plus I had to complete my Avengers line-up.

No one deserves hate. If you don't want it or thing the price is to high don't by it. Simple.

As for everything being Disney...I must have missed where Disney bought batman(joker just released), or commando, or Bttf, or predator, or transformers, or half a dozen other figures. Come on.

Come off it. Hot Toys has a dominant position in the marketplace. Sideshow's exclusive deal means they can charge what they want. How is that pro-competition? The problem is that no one's seriously competing with either company, but it would be hard for any company to compete with Hot Toys given that they speak the same language as their factory.

I've always thought of Sideshow as anti-American because the quality of the products is so poor. I associate American capitalism with consumer satisfaction, yet comparing a Sideshow figure to a Hot Toys figure the Sideshow figure always looks like a knock-off. It's frankly embarrassing how primitive their products are compared to Hot Toys. There's something almost 1970's Britain about their output.

Anti-American? Which part?

The part where they monopolize distribution to prevent competition and hurt the consumer.

Where they make toys and force you to buy them at gun point? Where they try to make money by killing teddy bears?

Hyperbole, much?

:lol There really is something hilarious about a moron who can't spell the word "moronic."

Wrong, that's not "the idea I was trying to convey." But congratulations, you've successfully disproved an argument that I never made in the first place!

I said it was anti-American, not anti-capitalist. Two very different things.

It's very much pro-capitalist and, not entirely unrelatedly, also very ****** as well.

And I'm sure a majority of the people reading this get raises, some yearly or faster. Not unusual.

Show me someone who's been getting raises at the same rate that Hot Toys prices have increased, and I'll show you someone who's been sleeping with the boss.

Calling something un American because you wish it was cheaper is silly.

True, but not as silly as advertising to everybody how poor your reading comprehension skills are!

When did this thread become Economic Theory 101? Might be time to blow it up.
