I know it's a very subjective question but, in your opinion, if I have to invest in a single figurine, is it better to take the clean version or the BD ? I have the impression that the clean one is more "emblematic" and "characteristic" of the saga... but the BD version seems so well finished with all these little details, the blood etc.... cruel dilemma...😅

Terminator is a robot. You need to see that. You need to see the monster inside. BD all the way.

Also, pops a lot more on the shelf with all the red.

Same with T-1000. You need some silver nanotech showing -- long fingers or split head. Who wants just a "cop" on the shelf?
Exactly.

But I must admit, the clean version is also tempting.

Fully agree, Terminator is a cyborg and needs to be seen as such and so the BD is the only option for me, I would only get him + the T-1000 and Endoskeleton.
If I wanted a badass 80's human Arnie figure I would get Dutch from Predator.

Thanks Nick, I have seen these ones. I just expected us to be flooded by other shots from the show. I guess not! Appreciate you replying with those though 🙂
No worries man! We should see more soon of the clean T-800 & T-1000 by the time they go up for PO. Want to see these under different lighting.

I agree, though the thought of having a clean version next to the fully BD version as a way to encapsulate the character and films in their entirety seems really tempting.

I agree about the T-1000,
the sculpt and accessories are phenomenal.
I’m just having a hard time wanting to spend $300+ on a figure in police uniform.
If I were to get the T-1000, I’d need bullet holes across the chest or something more visually appealing than clean RP.

Is anybody planning on buying two BD 2.0s?
One to display the cleaner Arnold sculpt, jacket and arm, the other full on battle damaged?

I like all of these ideas, though I fear repetition will taint the ability to clearly see details and the impact they have on your shelf.

I prefer the version with the most battle damage if I’m to only get one BD version, seeing that eye is a must and seeing Arnold with half of his arm missing is too perfect to not display.

I see both sides of the BD and clean argument so I don’t have personal presence - maybe slightly leaning toward clean.

I have some of the 1.0s already, own doubles of the 3rd party figures and will buy multiples of each of all the 2.0s to display most of the different looks of the T-800 and T-1000 from T2.

Me actually.

All I want on display is galleria versions of both.

I'd probably go with something similar to this. Full battle damage. Grenade launcher in hand. Final stand.

Or maybe the metal rod.

Would be better if they did the torn sleeve closer to the DX13s though.

Hopefully the production sleeve looks better,
if not we can always adjust it with a scalpel or scissors. The BD T-800 2.0 just seems like a fun
figure to work with in the collection.

All of the detail on the DX13
is just too nice to marvel at,
to pass up on for spotless leather.

Either both or just full BD as an artistic appreciation for the IP. Where if I want the different looks, I’ll give the film a rewatch, but that’s how I’m trying to steer my collection, though there’s always exceptions to the rule.

I feel I’d take pride in owning one BD
and just swapping parts than both BD displayed simultaneously, diminishing each others presence.

I owned both the Galleria T-800 and the BD T-800, along with the Tech Noir T-800 and the semi chase T-800. Eventually I sold both clean versions when needing to downsize. I agree with the other comments...the Terminator is a cyborg and the BD versions end up being the best representation on your shelf.

Glad to see the new zippers at the legs will be smaller and more accurately in scale on the biker pants.

The old biker pant zippers always looked like coke tabs at his boots to me.

I'm buying one and it is the BD version. If we were not getting T1000, I might buy both but as it is, I'm sticking with the BD version for its heightened detail and the detailed base. This figure sums up both movies really.

If I bought a second T800, it would be super interesting to have *T1's* T800.

- In T2, the cyborg calmly and coolly picks out what outfit he wants to wear. Sizes up his target - literally sizes him up, does what it takes to get the items and then steps back to grab a shotgun and a pair of Raybans. He has a look. He's keeping to that. And so already we see, this T800 is more human.

This T800 ASKS his target to hand over the items. He gave him a chance for peace. T1 T800: F you b****h I'm taking that. Stone cold!

- In T1, the T800 shows up and just grabs the first outfit he sees. Its scruffy, its punk and Ah-nold just don't care.

Also the first movie's T800 is interesting in that he has the human epidermis, but about halfway through, when he's taking real damage.... suddenly he starts looking... not quite so right. His skin looks sickly. He's damaged and he's just not healing at all, or at a glacial pace. He never bothers with the shades until he suffers eye damage that he cannot hide. [or does he, my memory is shaky here] That T800 is all about the goal, he cares not for aesthetics. He's more of a monster. Having no eyebrows enhances that. He would be great on our shelves!

In T2 he gets patched up after the Pascadero attack, and you can see that he's healing - until the end of the movie undoes all that. His epidermis was healing and he was also learning. His speech is cold and forced at first, at the end of the film he is speaking much more conversationally. I agree with John; I could never, never have put him in the fire. Was that the last chip? Dont worry, Skynet is going to send more. Plenty more. What does ending a single one matter? And so IMO Uncle Bob died for nothing.

T1 Terminator is in a way scarier and more primal than T1000. A metal beast with red eyes stalking you through the night...? You can count me out.

Though I love T1 and its horror film genetics,
I’m unsure if I’d add a T1 T-800 to the collection.

Perhaps if the 2.0 they inevitably make is a vast improvement over the original, I could possibly see myself purchasing.

I just think the two films are vastly different.
T2 is the more heartfelt story, and is a better representation of the Arnold character.

I love how Connor says as she’s observing him,
that out of anyone in her son's life,
the T-800 was the only one to measure up.
That’s the character to me, a father figure.

The entire scene where John is talking to him and realizing he’s ordered to do as he says, as he just stands there. It is the epitome of a parental figure, being there regardless of the naivety of the kid in the moment.

So ultimately I’m torn on which route to take here,
do I go -

  • T2 T-800 BD 2.0

  • T2 T-800 Clean 2.0 + T2 T-800 BD 2.0

  • T2 T-800 BD 2.0 + T2 T-1000 2.0
I don’t believe I’ll be ordering all three, just don’t feel the need to dedicate that amount of space to the film. Most likely, I’ll pick up two of the three. I’ve already PO the T-800 BD so that version is coming home.

I think you need at least both battle damaged looks from both films. Two sides of the same coin, one takes all that damage trying to destroy John, the other takes it all to protect him.

This is the same predicament I'm facing. Can't afford all 3, but ultimately think I'll go with the T2 BD 2.0 and T-1000 2.0 :D

It’s a tough one, they all look promising.

I like the duality idea,
which is why I’m contemplating
ordering both versions of the T2 T-800.

In a way, the character had a large character arc in this film as Ramatuelle points out, despite such little dialog with minimal to no facial expression to convey any emotion.

The clean look shows his full complete Terminator being, despite appearing to have entirely human anatomy.

Freshly introduced to the past with no ties to the world he’s been placed into, much like T1,
only a different mission hardwired in.
Still just the same, apex predator.

The Battle Damaged look to me,
signifies the machine wearing down
from the rain of the world.

Its attempt to understand what John
means when he says things matter.
That willingness.

With the thumbs up showing the humanity take hold within it, beating Skynet, beating the machine.

With the T-1000, I feel like RP is an exceptionally talented actor, and I love his villain here, truly top ten villains in film of all time territory imo.

I just don’t know how it reads as a figure in my home, to see daily with much more visually inspiring characters to choose to have in my limited though attempt at an eclectic collection. It’s a cop uniform which is a bit boring to me, as are military figures.
But with battle damage applied, I could be swayed.

Either of the two pairings read like great choices. Though something about a clean T2 T-800 next to a fully BD T2 T-800 in a black Moducase seems impeccable.

I won’t use the diorama bases or the stock clean T-800 base so I’m not worried about getting the matching steel mill set.
