Hot Toys gets POTA!!!!!!!

I also hope to see HT make bearded astro Taylor and the other crew, with proper likenesses. They are more relevant for me to get, as the apes are secondary. As such, if HT make a Freddy or Kane with this one, more than likely I would skip their POTA figs entirely.

Yeah, but if Hot Toys makes a Taylor figure (a SLAVE Taylor PLEEEASE!) that is even half as good as their Godfather figure, I'll be in Ape heaven.

I want lots of Hot Toys apes, but I'd like to see them do Taylor and the other astronauts, too. With beards and without.

Maybe release them with switchable heads so they could release one figure and have two heads to choose from. I think the company that put out the Dark Shadows line did this with their figures. You could either have Vampire Barnabus or regular Barnabus

I LOVE that idea! After all, the gorillas have a ton of accessories. With the astronauts, you'd get their backpacks with lots of little items in them but to really match up with what they're showing for the soldier apes they should give us an alternate head!

I think yeah the ape-o-nauts would be fantastic figures with their elaborate spacesuits and stuff. I definitely think the line should concentrate on the apes, because it's THEIR planet, after all. I'm trying to think of one person I've ever met who was a huge Taylor or Dodge fan. We all knew as kids it was much better to play as an ape than as a human... unless you were a masochist or something!

But what's a gorilla horde without a matching Taylor to kick around? I think HT's quality would make all the SS Taylors obsolete instantly. No, I don't think he should come before they put out Zira and Cornelius and Dr. Zaius and Julius and Milo and a few other "name" apes. And I absolutely don't think we need a billion Taylor variants. But I'm looking forward to seeing how they upgrade that guy and what they do with the other two space-dudes after seeing their Marlon Brando sculpts. I don't think there will even be any comparison!

But definitely-- bring on more apes, including ape-o-nauts!

Yes, Majestic Studios did it and now Amok Time has done it so interchangeable heads are a possiblity, no matter how slim of one. And, while Kane is no John Hurt, I have seen a Hudson who looks just like Hicks, so there are ways around it. Taylor could look like Franciscus and vice versa. As long as we know who they are.........

Mego put out an Urko who looked like Aldo and called him "Ursus" and "Urko." And another ape who looked like Ursus and called HIM "Urko." Or something like that. But I always knew the one I got was supposed to be Aldo. He had Aldo's sword and no crazy bubble helmet. So as long as HT makes 'em and they look like somebody, yeah. I wanted to get into the Aliens line but the Ripley didn't look like her at all. Then I saw what they were capable of with the Rambo and Rocky figures and now Don Corleone... WOW!

I want them to bring that to the Apes line. It looks like they have with Ursus, but kind of a miss with the soldier. Not that he isn't a fine looking figure, just a touch generic. Which I guess works out okay.

I never got SS's Dr. Zaius, Ursus or Taylor, so I definitely want one of each of those. I was thinking today with all the calls for ape-o-nauts and so many characters to choose from, everyone must have a list of who they want to see. The HT Ursus will scratch a major itch for me and makes me glad I passed on SS's (as painful as that was at the time).

I don't want to rain on anyone's ape parade, but what I really want, in order, are:

1) Zaius
2) Cornelius and Zira (I'm pleased with SS's but they're absolute necessities in any Apes line and the upgrade with today's technology just tantalizes me)
3) Julius (imagine how visually impressive a figure he'll be with his big, muscular hairy gorilla arms and a cigar!)
4) Aldo (love those menacing gorilla generals)
5) Virgil
6) Taylor/Landon/Dodge/Nova (a human grouping)
7) Dr. Milo

I feel that characters like Ursus, Julius and the ape-o-nauts would be stand-outs in anyone's collection. They're very distinctive and elaborate.

As much as I want a Taylor, I feel if HT frontloads this line with endless variants on him, they're going to kill it off quickly. I want this line to go deep as possible so I can cherry-pick my favorites as they come around. I don't mind if someone else's dream figures get made before mine. I'm patient. I remember years when there were no apes of any kind to be had.

Now that they're almost here again, I just want things to work out, letting the apes keep coming for a long, long time.

The Megos were great simply because they were POTA!! HotToys can and will do a much better job than any we have seen so far.
Can't agree about the Ripley. That sculpt was solid, it just needed a repaint. If you've seen some of the repaints, like Les' version, its amazing how good it is. Hell even I was able to bring more Sigourney out with my measley skills.
As far as character choices I'm hoping to see?
I'd love to see all FOUR ANSA astronauts and fro Stewart to have a switchable head.
