hello there gental apes and humans ... i was just on ebay and theres 4 people from hong kong that are selling the hot toys pota gorillas at $108.00 + $35.00 shipping and also seen them at $144.00 +$35 shiping ...... sofar no one from the usa has them yet ....
i did how ever bought a hasbro sargent ape for $20 with shipping ..near mint in his tube
to me thats a good price... MY APE ARMY IS GROWING ... and so is MY COBRA ARMY

i keep buying any 12inch or 3 3/4 inch cobra troops i can get my paws on..

With shipping the Alter Ego price comes out better than the $108 + $35, but I don't know who will ship first.
As for Hasbro, even a dumb gorilla knows that unless you really need it, they are not worth their otriginal retail price. Toy Liquidators and the like blew them out at $4.99 and lower. It astounds me as to what ebayers are trying to get for them know, presumably trying to cash in on the Hot Toys mania.

I know this a bit off topic, but I got a couple of my Dr. Zaius head painted as well as Angel's Lawgiver head.

How cool is that! I think he looks better without the pink on his mouth...and the cartoon lines on his eyebrows are gone. He looks great but I can't really see a difference between the old Zaius and this new one. I'm going to study the photos some more....I think he looks loads better without the lines on his muzzle. Did you have the artist re-paint the open mouth Zaius?

You are right. I should have taken comparison shots of Zaius... a sort of before and after kind of thing. Well, the sun is going down here so I couldn't take a very good shot but here it is:

As you can see, I have not given the open mouth Zaiuses to the painter yet. It took him nearly a year to give the other heads back to me so I'm kind of leery of doing so. But the more I think about it, the more it think I'll do it. Or I might just give the heads to another artist. Get another interpretation of the piece.

Anyway, enough about my Zaiuses... let's get back to the topic and talk about those amazing Hot Toys Gorillas....

I had seen the Ape-xplorers but you confused me when you called it a Planet of the Apes figure. They are, at best, caricatures of simians.

They are cool... just not my cup of tea.

But the clothing on these figures was absolutely stunning.

Has anyone looked closely at the HT Ape outfits? The purple/blue stitching on the vest is a near perfect match. I can't wait to see these in hand. I know that those of us that get these will be so ecstatic once they are in hand. It's hard to imagine that we still have a few months to go. My anticipation is climbing rapidly.

I am really excited by this line... but I am VERY unsure how they paln on continuing this real hair through out the whole line. Both Zira and Zaius pose unique challenges.

That's true, Protozaius. I was wondering how they're going to handle the shorter "beards" on characters like Cornelius and Zira. And Dr. Zaius has those bangs and a more layered hairstyle. Going to be a challenge indeed!

The hardest hair to recreate would be Zira's hair with the curl in the back. I would love to see Hot Toys take the challenge. The gorilla's hairline is also a big problem. They missed the widow's peak, but overall it does not look bad. It could be tweaked. They better do a good job on Zira's hair...she has a soft widow's peak and would look idiotic with a straight hairline.

Zaius' hair would be the easiest to recreate since there is no hairline to contend with.
