For people thinking two pack, if you think about it as $235 per figure, it's a little easier to swallow. It's Tarkin at face value with a Vader for the same price.

I would have been happy with like $210-215 per figure, so I guess at this point, what's an extra $20 per figure?

My wallet really hates me when I rationalize things like this. I'm just not sure if it hates me more or less than my fiancé. :huh

A $30 chair....wheels better work

Haha they don't look like it.

Remember what was “In the Box” many years ago……(i.e.. DX days for less than $235)

Well just look at RotJ Luke. Much better value but they're also gonna sell a ton more of those.

Yes. It is a bit steep. Hopefully reflective of an anticipated low edition size.

Why do you want a small edition size?

Yeah this is probably key with this figure. I'm guessing that's what Wor-Gar was alluding to with a low edition size as it makes it easier to justify the price a bit looking at it as a more limited release. At least that's how I'm justifying it to myself. :lol. From Hot Toys perspective it makes more sense too as only the most diehard fans are going to want this.

We really think this will be a small edition size?

I dunno , I kinda feel like the overproduce all SW now after Chewie and his ebay scalping.....how much could they loose by overproduction?

Here's my logic:

Demand for Tarkin is likely very low for a $200+ action figure.

HT estimates its run size.

I do not believe they decide on an "edition size"; they let the PO window decide now. Clearly they made too many TFA figures. They made too many Yodas even. In this price range its very hard to gauge the perfect edition size. Jedi Luke will be large -- he's a favorite, like Vader. But there's very few of those.

My guess is this one will be low. Will it sell out? No. Unless they close the PO themselves. But I doubt there will be enough POs to justify a run size that HT would like. Hence the 2-pack to help sales and bump the price to help cover the low sales of the single.

There will be plenty of Tarkins once they ship... at least for a while. But nothing like TFA junk. And likely not even as many as Yoda.

I had been avoiding Star Wars like the plague. Sure I bought a couple things here or there. But with the way statue prices have exploded, this has sorta became my jam. I also finally watched Rogue one, and that movie kicked a ton of ass for me. So, I have slowly been building a 1/6 collection to get my fix. Perfect timing for me. Definitely in for the set.

This figure is a work of art and I love figures that include chairs...Mandarin, Fur Coat Tyler, DX11...whole set is awesome and has been the biggest Star Wars grail for me (and I am sure a bunch of other people) since way back when I started buying Sideshow figures.

Tarkin definitely was overlooked throughout the 90's in toys and comics, etc. So I get why some people never acquired a taste for him. Sort of the forgotten bad guy that only recently got resurrected because of his appearance at the end of ROTS... and of course Rogue One.

After 8 films, he remains one of the better villains though.

He was over looked back in the late 70's and early 80's. Hell, Kenner never made Tarkin who's the main villain of ANH yet made Wallrus Man, Snaggletooth, and the Power Droid. :lol

Ok here's the thing....how much do they really spend on production? These days I think they are more concerned with losing money to Ebay scalpels than having a few extra figure laying around.

I think over production is the rule from now on...

None of the HT Rogue One figures released so far were heavily overproduced. They're either all sold out, waitlisted, or in the last chance section at Sideshow. I think for the most part they learned their lesson.

Yoda is a bit early to compare with anything from TFA. Many of those figures have been sitting around since 2015, Yoda has been in stock for 3-4 months. Snowtrooper has already sold out too.

I got Yoda 2 weeks ago for $150 on ebay pristine new (v2 BTW). That give you an idea?

Needed a Vader other than the SS Reveal version, so POed the 2-pack. Tarkin head sculpt looks fantastic. Now HT needs to produce a Bespin Lando.

Amazing how little is listed under "what's in the box" on the PO page for this at SSC. I knew we were in trouble when they showed code cylinders in their own separate pic.:lol

Damn that chair - turned a $205 fig into a $235 one. But hey, you can never have too many 1/6 chairs.:lecture

It's still the period when there's the glut, most of the retailers have them, Sideshow still has them, etc. Yoda is likely a character they would want to stick around for a while too, not going to make another OT version most likely, not like the 10 Luke figures they have planned. I just think nothing is comparable to the TFA situation, we'll check back next year during Spook and see if Yoda is getting the 30% off routine. Then I'll admit I was wrong. :lol

I agree. I think greedy Howard cries himself to sleep looking at eBay prices of some of these figures.

"Losing" money to eBay sellers aren't really losing money. It's losing an opportunity to make more money. Over production is an actual loss of money if the stock does not sell, like some of the TFA stuff.
