Yeah I agree. All relatively easy for them to make. But I guess chances would be higher in a world where there was no Saga film coming or spinoff films coming, or Marvel Cinematic Universe. But I hope you're right.

HT needs to expand their team !!

That's the gif.

So the what are people getting?

Jedi Luke
Hoth Leia
Royal Guard
Emperor
Han Stormtrooper
Snowtrooper Commander
Snowtrooper
ROTJ Stormtrooper
Imperial Jyn
K2-SO

Deluxe Jyn over Imperial, K2SO (both already preordered), Hoth Leia. That'll do me.

ESB Vader & ESB Boba are on my wantlist, but I'm not surprised to have not seen them yet & equally would be surprised if they didn't hold off on either version for a fair while. They'll be big sellers, you know 100% they'll do em, and so they can wait til the next lull between the new SW films to do so.

I am a cynic so I think all Lule may come with is;
Lit saber
Unlit saber
A few hands, probable blasted hand
Plain base

Personally I don't care if they load up the extras , if the sculpt is not a ringer .....it's no sale.

I will probably get the emperor so long as that's a close likeness.

Want to do a setup like this...

It'd be nice if Jedi Luke comes with two head sculpts with the expressions that Guyver1 posted, more than likely just one neutral expression head.
Personally, I'd take Endor Luke Gear over the Jabba Palace vest. I never displayed my SSC version with it.

So far I'm getting:
R1:
Deathtrooper Deluxe
Jyn Deluxe
Jyn Disguise
K2SO
Shoretrooper

OT:
Jedi Luke
Hoth Leia
Royal Guard

I'm strongly thinking about getting:
Deathstar Gunner
Snowtrooper Deluxe
R1 Tank Commander
Han Disguise

Jedi Luke and ESB Vader are all I want from SW. So excited to cross one off the list!

Just of the recently revealed and preorder figures:
- Han Solo Stormtrooper
- Jyn Erso Imperial Disguise
- Hoth Leia
- ROTJ Luke

For figures that were already revealed at past shows:
- ROTJ Stormtrooper
- Sandtrooper Sergeant

Maybes:
- Emperor
- Royal Guard
- SS Snowtrooper Commander (if improved)
- Death Star Trooper
- Death Star Gunner

Hoth Leia

Han Stormtrooper

Imperial Jyn
K2-SO
Han in Trooper Disguise and the Snowtrooper are on pre-order already. I also have the deluxe edition of Jyn on pre-order. As cool as the Imperial Disguise version is I'm not sure if I'll get it.

Plan to get Jedi Luke, Hoth Leia, two Royal Guards, Emperor, and maybe a Return of the Jedi Stormtrooper.

I feel like I should cut myself off from going too crazy with figures from the newer films or else it'll never end. So as much as I want a K2SO I'm not sure if it's in the cards for me. Same goes for character like Chirrut, Baze, Cassian, etc. (if those last two actually get made).

Curious to see if HT adjusts their edition sizes on this next wave of figures from the OT. Might be hard to tell at first obviously, but signs like Yoda being sold out at BBTS before it even arrives stateside is an early indication.

I know the TFA is a huge edition size....mainly because I can find them all under retail at this point...

BUT if that because they sold poorly...we might see lower runs with OT....

Either way...if the likeness is there , I might break my pre-order rule for Luke......MAAAAAYbe.

My take as well.....extras are nice but if that important can added from other pieces. Sculpt needs to be 90% or better in the likeness category.....

Glad this is finally on the way. I don't yet have a Luke and I only really want one of him from the original trilogy, and I was waiting for this one. (though I did want stormtrooper Luke, but missed out). I also want an old-man Luke, but i'm gonna wait to see what they do for him for Episode 8 before making that decision.

Both of the Jyn figures are pre sold out already on BBTS too.

I think not many people would have the space or funds to collect BOTH the OT and TFA, or they weren't as big fans of TFA hence the possible overstock. I doubt they'd want to go through the past year or 2 years ago when they overproduced and ended up with losses and discounting everything again. They're selling out on AEC and BBTS but they're still available on Sideshow and I think they'll want to keep making profits than risk the losses again.

I think more than anything Hot Toys went overboard with the Troopers from The Force Awakens. Just way too many variants. They probably made too many of Rey and Finn too, but I think if they had only done one of each version (Finn as a separate figure without the Trooper and Rey with BB-8 only or Rey by herself and BB-8 as a separate release) they might have sold faster. I think by doing the two packs they essentially doubled up and have more leftovers.

I think it's because for most collectors, the OT is more nostalgic because many collectors are likely in the age range where those are the SW films from their youth. So between the two, they'd be more apt to splurge on the OT than the ST.

I grew up with the OT, but my attempt is to have a healthy balance of both. I pretty much have all the essential characters from ANH and for many of those characters, that will be the only OT representation of them I'll get. Leia, Han, Chewie and most likely Vader all fall into this category. For ESB and RotJ, it's all just select characters: DX07 Luke, Yoda, SSC RG Luke, SSC carbonite Solo, RotJ Luke and maybe the Emperor. With the ST, the majority of my ST collection will all be from TFA and I won't get duplicates of those characters. Finn and more than likely Kylo Ren, for example. I'll likely just be getting another Rey and Luke from Episode IX for the ST.

So basically, my main SW collection is based on the first film in each trilogy, with a few interspersed figures from other films in the trilogies.

If HT ever delved into the PT, RotS Anakin and Obi-Wan are all I'd be interested in.

Sticker shock is a real thing. If they sell the Emperor with two guards for $650 most would balk and pass. But selling them separately for $220 each makes them not so bad, despite being $10 more all together. I think that really did hurt the trooper and Finn 2 packs. People may have wanted both figures or numerous figures, but that 2 pack price is scary. Heck, Han and Chewie were $500ish both times and they both were sold out upon release. HT went back and did another run of the IV figures though, so there is always the chance if something sells well after release they might go back and do more. Surprised RO Vader hasn't seen that happen yet, but they may just use that opportunity to do a RoTJ Vader to go with Luke and company.

I expect Luke will get a standard and deluxe treatment here like several recent figures. Deluxe will have those Jabba robes and/or Endor gear.

I still wish they would re-release Bespin Luke as a single figure.

A lot of it is just choice. If there's not a lot of OT product available or announced, people gravitate to TFA and RO stuff. The minute people get the sense that OT stuff is coming, interest in the other stuff plummets. The OT stuff always seems to be the "main meal" for the majority of SW collectors.
