In those gifs, it looks like Zod has a double suit on. His "superman" suit is black, then he has his armor, then he has that thing that Jor-el is putting on over that. You can sorta see his armor "teeth" in the collar, under the crest. So maybe we will get all 3 looks

I think the armor Zod and his crew wear on earth might be stuff they create themselves from materials on the Black Zero ship. Obviously, their armor on Krypton is taken away from them, so I'm thinking when they get a hold of the Black Zero they're going to fashion their own homemade armor.

I thought there were a couple of possibilities ... maybe its the same armor, and the 'crest' part was torn off in a fight. That seems a strange explanation, though ... because Faora seems to have lost the crest off her armor too ...

Second, maybe he needs a different suit on Earth for some reason, so the Earth helmeted-armor is different from the Krypton crested-armor. Maybe it takes some time for a Kryptonian to acclimate to Earth. Maybe its a space-suit. Maybe he was concerned about the atmosphere, so he's using a black Buzz Lightyear costume ...

But, it really doesn't look like the same armor to me. The shoulders are different. The collar looks bigger and completely different. The crest is missing. On the crested one, there's a ridge down the center of the ribcage ... none on the non-crested one. Faora's also looks different -- different shoulders, different collar, missing crest.

Also, seems noteworthy that all the 'crested' armor pictures, Zod has no goatee ... and in all the non-crested ones, he's got the beard.

My idea, is that there are "dress blues/formal". And practical battle suits are the armor looking ones. If you look at Faora's shoulders her armor is completely different.

different armors on both earth and krypton, those seen worn by them on krypton are military styled armors, even the one jor el wears , with the symbol that represents them added to their armors when on krypton. but for earth it seems to me that they are wearing survival suits since if you think of it, they had no idea what to expect on their chase for jor el's son , or another explanation would be some sort of prison guard suits since zero black is a prison ship. but the earth suits explanations are only my speculations, but for the krypton suits, those are indeed military wear.

Perhaps one is a space suit, and one is a battle suit? That would explain the helmet, and we also have to remember that they don't have powers unless in the presence of a yellow sun, which would leave them quite vulnerable in space.

It just looks like there's 3 different types.

1) You have the base suit which is what Superman wears

2) Krypton Suit which is the base suit with the yellow goldish suit over it:

3) Earth Battle Suit whatever you want to call it where it's plain black with the little helmet over their heads for protection or whatever its purpose is.

It's been confirmed that the suit superman wears is the "bare" suit on Krypton so yes he's flying around in his onesies.

its called the skin suit and its indeed an all purpose under suit that kryptonians wear, the equivalent of us wearing shirts and pants, then theres ceremonial wear, military wear/krpton armor and earth armor/ spacesuit of sorts

It's just the name of the ship that Zod and the Kryptonian army arrive in to destroy Kal-El.

Mostly from Lego sets, where one of the sets is Escape From Black Zero and watching the trailers and tv spots you can tie two and two together and see Lois using the same exact thing as seen on the Lego Set...
