I'm not sure why Frank Langella in armor is so amusing to me...but it is!:lol

Interesting. I doubt they will go for bumbling Kent. I'd guess they tested a few different approaches. Each Superman/Kent has essentially been a product of the era. He was a newspaper man in the 40s/50s and could blend in by simply being low key. In the 70s/80s movies newspaper reporting was still pretty big, and the comics as I recall he was the weakling playing against type and would do klutzy things as Clark Kent and teenage Clark/Superboy. I don't really know how he was handled in the 90s and 2000 in the comics, but I know he was essentially normal in Smallville. Anyway, Reeve was a near perfect Superman/Clark for the times IMO. Which is why his portrayal is still iconic today. I think the updated version will also amaze.

Edit: Looks like he will be playing Clark the reporter early on.

Clark wasn't in the clip. If you're talking about the photo ...

I am hoping the Clark Kent reveal is after the final battle like they did in death of superman.

It seems they are borrowing a lot of plot elements from Superman:Earth One. If that's the case, we won't see the Clark Kent we all know until the end. It's not until he decides that he will be Superman, that he realizes he needs to make Clark the mask.

I know exactly what you're saying.
But in a lot of more recent stories, Superman is the mask, as he thinks of himself as Clark.
Clark is *who he is*.
Superman is simply *what he can do*.

Agree. I guess that's one reason why I like Earth One so much. I especially like the way Ma Kent explains the idea of him wearing a mask.
He can't wear a mask while being Superman because people are already going to freak out when they see what he can do. They have to be able to see in his eyes that he means them no harm. The mask is what he must wear the rest of the time.

Funny, I think they seem to have borrowed a lot from Birthright too (the armors, the invasion...though fake in the comics, CK traveling...)

I see a lot of Birthright in this too. But the speech Zod gives the world is basically the same speech the bad guy in Earth One gives. The idea that it is the invasion that pushes him to be Superman comes from that book too. It's been a while since I read Birthright, in that he was already a reporter wasn't he, I mean while he was traveling.

Could tonight be the night? We just saw in-hand pics of Ross last night, but no one expected Robo pics the day after MK VII pics, either.

True!

I guess Goyer did what he'd already done on Batman. He's borrowed from many sources...

On another subject, a month ago or so, the Superman Homepage said they have included an homage and a Nod to ChristopherReeve, and there's been a lot of conjectures about what it's gonna be...

Some guy pointed out a picture where you see Cavill walking through a crowd and there's a guy dressed up just as CR, down to the hat and glasses.

So I was wondering. Don't you think it'd be great if pasted CR's face on the extra and that this very guy was the inspiration to Cavill's CK for his human disguise?

It would be interesting. I personally am not the biggest fan of the CR portrayal of Clark Kent. His Superman is excellent, but i always hated the bumbling Clark. Growing up i preferred the Dean Cain Clark. He was confident, and had an air of cockiness to him that I liked. I would love to see the melding of both of these somehow.

I've heard about the Reeve cameo as well. I've seen the picture you're talking about of the guy dressed suspiciously like Reeve and it certainly seems like a strange coincidence. I wouldn't want it to be as obvious as him being the actual inspiration for Clark's disguise, but if he's just in the background somewhere I think that would be fine. I've also heard it could be a thing where Clark is watching tv at a storefront in Smallville, and on one of the tv's is one of Reeve's other films, The Aviator. I think that would be pretty cool as well.

I'm so hoping this doesn't disappoint like Iron Man 3. Supes has been in need of an epic movie for too long now and this finally looks to be the one :D I'm staying cautious though as trailers are never an indicator of the final quality of a film and I've been let down so many times before :/
As for the suits, I'll simply buy the definitive versions of each character (if multiples are released) so I'll see which of Zods suits look more epic. I have to say i'll Defo have to buy the play arts version of Zod's suit as well as it looks super duper cool :)

YESSSS to all this, including the part about Play Arts Kai Zod.

Meanwhile, as far as waiting for figure reveal:
