i know...but that LOOKS like rubber, while this new figure looks more like real human skin. if they could make a full body rubber figure, without visible joints (like the dutch figure you just posted) and still look as lifelike as wolverine, then that would be awesome

See... I already know next year is going to suck my cash away already. :monkey1

I'm feeling good about next year, there are no new movies coming that interest me for figures, I'm going to enjoy Iron Man 2 but as far as I can see, there are no significant enough differences in the new Marks to make me want to spend money on another figure, my Mark 3 is just fine, and I dont' care about anything else from it, and I can't think of any other movies coming out that I'm even interested in seeing, let alone buying from. Unless HT surprises me with Expendables figures, the only things they'll roll out that'll interest me are old movies visited, like the old Terminators and the old Marvel films, but even within those, there are a select few things I want.

This year was crazy, with Predator, Alien, Terminator and Dark Knight, lots I wanted from HT, glad to have a breather.

I know people have encountered horror stories with HT rubber and all, but the only thing I've personally encountered is paint flaking on the ALIENS figure, and that's common for rubber, it doesn't take paint well. I often wonder what conditional things play into these horror stories. I've got rubber toys from 1998 and older still in my collection and there's not a hint of ripping, tearing or decaying of any kind, and these are cheap, $50 at the most toys, surely HT is using stuff of at least equal quality that'll have the longevity of those toys.

I'm trying my best to just get Rorschach and leave the rest since hes my favorite character. I'll be getting the batman dx aswell.
The thing that actually drains me the most is custom stuff.

Getting Batman DX, Final Battle John Connor, Wolverine and Alien, after that, nothing on order with HT, Alien's shipping soon, as should Wolverine and Connor so that just leaves Batman going into 2010.

I'm not collecting any Watchmen, I gave the movie a shot, I just didn't enjoy it at all.

A big part of the longevity too is just how you care for it. I've heard the horror stories too about the rubber just breaking down on HT figures, but with minimal wear and tear and basic protection those should be isolated incidents, I would think. At least with Wolvie, you could put the shirt and jacket on and no one would know the rubber body had decayed. I really don't think it should be a serious concern though - I would be more concerned about Batman than Wolvie - his stuff starts to break down and he's done for.

Glad I've got this on order - the figure looks bloody amazing! :rock

I've had the Rambo 2 figure for over 3 years and no sign of issues so I really do think it's a matter of how you handle it, how strongly you adhere to the instructions on caring for it, and environmental conditions. Even the best materials can break down under the wrong conditions.

i want to get the watchmen line for 2 reasons:
A) i loved the book, and they're related collectibles, so i want them
B) i enjoyed the movie, not nearly as much as the book, the book was 100 times better, but still nonetheless, i enjoyed the movie, and i would want the figures to go with it.
(i know this is off topic, but oh well, it's kinda going along with the conversation:eek:)

the metal claws look outstanding! it's the best part of this already impressive figure.

and as much as i detest visible joints, the muscle body is great. the sculpt work and paint apps are top-notch.

as for the likeness, i see enough of jackman in the sculpt. from certain angles he looks a little off, but chances are most normal people (non-collectors) would easily recognize it as the actor.

good job, hot toys.

Great looking figure - I can even see Jackman from some angles. The body is actually a little too lean - Jackman is a bit more built, but when the figure is dressed the proportions become "correct" so I can understand the reasoning.

Too bad Hot Toys didn't include a swappable head like this one. Lost of poses would look awesome with this headsculpt!

Hold on, why does the torso need to be made of rubber? I don't see the need for HT to use a rubber material as opposed to hard plastic. It isn't as if it can hold details better, and isn't applying paint onto that rubber a big no no?

wow, you guys are raving about this figure. it's a great figure for sure, but i must be the only one who sees little or no jackman in there. i feel like cucucachu got screwed.

With rubber/silicon you'll have added neck and shoulder articulation........ without unsightly joints (or just a cut at the shoulders)
