True dat. HT will most likely make a Romero Joker. Maybe a Penguin and I HOPE a Newmar Catwoman -- seems by now HT got the message that there's quite a few of us who want a Newmar and remember, this line is now a 66 TV line so a Newmar is NOT out of the picture. Batgirl is also in the running IMO as she appeared in quite a few later episodes and was even included in the animated opening credits whooshing by in her Batcycle.

:pray:Some of my earliest memories as a child were wanting dolls that looked just like Newmar Catwoman and Batgirl. I almost feel like I have just been passing time with my last 35-ish years of doll collecting, waiting for these to be produced. Please don't let me down, Hot Toys.

Its certainly not perfect, but considering all the legal issues the property has faced for decades we're lucky to have it at all.

Hi Guys and Gals...I'm new here. And I'm sorry to have my first post be such a Danny Downer, but myself and other fans have tried to get Sideshow and Hot Toys to listen to our criticisms of this figure since we saw them at Comic Con. Clearly they paid no attention. I had high hopes for this figure, but clearly it's far from a home run.

First off, the "peanut head" shaped cowl (with the taper at the top) is all wrong. The seam down the middle of the cowl is annoying, as is the score line around the black portion of the face mask. There was no seam there on the originals. The black was simply painted on to the fabric, not sewn in. And the ears should be painted black or at least dark blue.

The chest emblem is wrong and much too large. The trunks are too short (a common design problem in many 1966 figures and toys) as the top of the trunks hit the naval dead-on.

The utility belt looks ultra-cheap. They should have cast the belts using some sort of leather-look texturing for detail. The fat pad is really annoying as well (not to mention inaccurate to the original look), and the boots seem "clunky."

But the worst offense in this whole design is the cape. The manufacturers and designers had oodles of experts out there who know these costumes forwards and backwards, but they didn't tap that resource. And the result is disastrous. The cut of the cape is completely wrong. The originals had 11 points and 10 scallops. This looks like 8 scallops at best. The edges of the cape flared out like bat wings, but this cape's edge is cut straight. The cape should completely encompass the figure front and back when unsecured. When secured, the cape is folded back, attached with a snap, and then folded back forward to give a multi-tiered, 3-level look. The original designer of the costume said this layering made Adam's shoulders look bigger.

I'm wondering why, with Hot Toys' amazing attention to detail in the past, this figure (and the Robin too) is such a disastrous misfire.

After researching it, I see what you mean. Specifically, with the Batsymbol and the trunks. I'd be a hypocrite to call you a nitpicker, because, honestly, I care about the details, too. With that in mind, though, I think there are some details that are more important than others. Take the DX 12, for instance. From the neck down, outside of a couple details, like shoulder pads and chest connectors, it's the most accurate representation of the TDK Batsuit in 1/6th scale. The cape is far from good, but that's besides the point; the body is solid. However, when you get above the neck, things get interesting. A weird, bulbous cowl with googly eyes, and mouthpieces that look nothing like Christian Bale. Only now, are they seemingly remedying that with the new Armory set. My point is, though, in this situation, you have a figure that looks just like Adam West and that you can tell is the '66 Batman. The time for complaining is over. That ship sailed when this thing hit the shelves.

My point is that there are difficult levels of I accuracy, and to call this figure a "disastrous misfire" is far from warranted. Plus, technically, if the stuff bothers you that much, this is one case where it's a lot easier to mod the figure than, say, a Nolan Batman figure. In the coming months, you'll probably be seeing interest threads for modded cowls, tutorials on how to remove the fatsuit, and accurate capes for sale.

It's not a bad thing that more discerning fans point out the perceived shortcomings of a figure. And it's his first post, give a man a break :lol

He isn't being discerning though, he is being a spoiled brat.:lol

This is the best it is going to get.:lecture

You keep telling yourself that. You'll be sorry when you see Kato's awesome Batsuits (with Special Bonus "Surf's Up" Trunks). I need to shut up; that actually sounds awesome.:lol

Details are important, and the companies should do whatever they can to make things as accurate as possible. With that in mind, I feel like the saying "too little, too late" comes to mind. Pointing out details when prototype photos are shown is one thing, but, after the final product's been shown, I think it's sort of pointless to complain; particularly, when the issues are not even "figure breaking."

Thanks for the link. Great pix!

Welcome!:duff

He usually posts his pics here but for some reason didn't this time. As you can see in his pics, the suit looks pretty snag/less, so it is possible to pose it without messing it up. If you have rough hands i'd still go with the surgical gloves though, you can get a box for a couple bucks and they come in handy for other things as well. I also noticed his ab padding isn't as prominent in a few of his photos which is nice.

Too me this figure is perfect. Nothing wrong with it. I placed a order for one because I see an amazing representation of Adam West Batman. If Robin comes out well to than I'll pick him up so Batman has his buddy. Sculpt is excellent on this! Even the tailoring is great.:clap

Fixed...sorry, had to :wink1:

I am so happy I don't do the mod scene. :)

(although i may be able to actually afford Kato bat trunks.:monkey4 )

I agree details are important, and I think HT did the best they could with this figure. The new guy has valid points but to call the figure a complete fail is just a bit much imo. It's his money though, so if he doesn't like it so be it.

Reposting this pic, sorry guys, I rarely repost my own posts but this pic is SO awesome.

Shame Shame Shame on HT.

A pox upon the house of DC for allowing a shambles of a doll like this come together in such a manner demeaning of the great Adam West.

Cancelled!

Look at this picture. Looks nothing like 'em.

I just wish Adam West would have worn a latex suit like all the other Batman's. Why did he have to be so different? I'm still gonna get the figure but once it arrives I am going to burn it.

Don't understand why people can't just embrace the fun of this release? The cardboard window? Fantastic piece of throwaway kitsch, HT didn't need to bother, but they did. The box art? Wonderful. We should be celebrating that HT are releasing figures from the past, not just Avengers2, Thor2 and another Captain America. This reminds me of the time when HT used to release things like Planet of The Apes and Mars Attacks... Bravo!!

Well said, Rory. And I don't have to want the figure to enjoy seeing something different, other than modern blockbusters. Something niche, cult etc. Like that new Rocketman figure. That thing is so cool! No interest at all in getting it but I think it's great that there are still companies out there that will cater to the smaller denomination of collectors that like weird, old or rare stuff. Two other figures that I was happy to see but have no intention of buying, The Crow and Snake Plisskin. Two cult characters that have devoted fans that have been calling for a figure for years and they both pop out of nowhere. I think this Batman is awesome. I think the body looks a bit pudgy and something is going on with the belt, and yeah the cape but overall it's excellent.

That pic is probably one of my favorites of his, with this being another:

I just love how closely it resembles the promotional still. OMG's pics are amazing, as well, but I think each photographer has their strengths OMG's studio-level shots to an amazing job of showing off the details (the close-ups of the face are spectacular), while Jingobell's capture the authenticity.
