my only gripe, some one at hot toys went to add something that wasn't there in the prototype, the thick moustache! damn!

I for one will be keepin my pre-order. I think the figure came out excellent.

And I think the likeness looks great.

Can't wait to get them

Well, like others, I have canceled my PO. I think it looks OK but not great. I liked the prototype sculpt from the nose up but not so much the lower half. I was hoping the mouth would be addressed but to me it looks like it got worse. Also the really defined brow wrinkles got softened in the sculpt with help from the flat paint job. I could look past it if the costume was more then a black suit. But with such a straight forward design, the head really needs to be brilliant. I'll put this on the watch list for a good deal. Also in hand pics from regulars may change my mind.

I am in the minority here, but I actually really like how it turned out. :dunno

That being said I may cancel due to the mass amount of other releases hitting the same timeframe.

To me what ruins the headsculpt is the beard.

1) It isn't full enough
2) He didn't have a mustache.

In this movie he didn't wear his xmen suit, which sort of is unlike Wolverine. The way we recognise him in the black suit he wears in The Wolverine is basically thick beard, no mustache, badass black suit.

However, now they thinned out the beard and added a mustache he doesn't even look like this interpretation of Wolverine anymore, it's the combination of the suit and bad facial hair accuracy that ruins it I think.

I realised this when I saw this headsculpt on the The Last Stand wolverine figure, and it just clicked, the headsculpt looked good on it. On this suit however it just doesn't look like Logan anymore.

I usually use my wife as the test of whether or not a figure has a good likeness. This one did not pass her test. She said it looks like they combined Jackman with Jeremy Renner. :lol

Crappy Photoshop before and after (sorry for snatching your pic OMG).

Before:

After:

The head definitely was made wider, I made it less wide. I also removed the excess stache. Made his hair less flat/raised it a bit (seemed higher in the proto). I also re-raised the (anatomical) left eyebrow a bit (which I think was present/exaggerated more in the initial proto). The last thing I did was make the brows thicker and bushier.

It helps, if it had looked like my "after" shot I would have been happy... Now he looks like a doll---lifeless (that's not even taking the likeness issues into consideration).

The body is super disproportionate too, ugh... I want to get it, because I think it could still be a great figure through customizing. But it's pissing me off a bit that this seems to be the new "standard" with HT.

Wow...those last few shots look terrible!

His jaw looks too square and a different skin tone all-together...lol. Like he had a donor-jaw from a person with a completely different ethnicity.

Im hoping that the initial release in HK will be the bad bunch and they work out the painting by the time these hit the US. It's happened before.

That mustache ruins it more than anything to me. Where did they get the thick mustache idea from?
