Got mine a couple weeks ago... I honestly prefer this version over sleeveless... just looks like like thor and less like a marketing scheme. Although I get the impression that people here are very friendly, I'm still new here so I feel the need to point out that I ordered this one before the EX version even went to wait-list. I really didn't want that one... still don't. (I didn't know if there were people here who would say something like "You only ordered this one because the other one sold out" or something like that... I frequent reddit, so i'm cautious and always prepare to back myself up :lecture:wink1:)

Anyway... I love it, probably the definitive thor for me, unless of course his future outfit designs blow me away, BUT this one is the only one i've really liked so far.

2 complaints though... The hair is not nearly blond enough, AND the strap on his hammer was disconnected at one end before I even took it out of the package. I shoved the end back in with a pin, and it looks fine... just kinda annoying.

For me the sleeveless look. In the comics Thor was always sleeveless, he didn't get this chain mail business until the film came out. Also I already have the Avengers version and am sure we'll get anther armored version for AOU. Also the sleeveless looks more muscular. For some reason this armored one looks like he's wearing spandex or Under Armour. And his arms look smaller than the sleeveless version's and makes his head look bigger. At least the Avengers version the armor didn't look tight.

Its the definitive Thor for me as well ever since I saw these pictures. Chainmail and helmet is just absolutely incredible. I could probably bash this together using TDW Thor's body and just gotta find a good screaming headsculpt and fit a helmet down that head.

And any ideas on that lightning effect? Haha

I think I saw someone do Spider-Man webs using dried strands of hot glue... I think it'd work well for lightning.

Any problems with paint rubbing off on the rubber arms, even slightly? The light armor version is just too fragile.

I was also curious about the shoulder joint on the armored version. Does the joint have up and down adjustment or does the ratchet not allow it(fixed shoulder joint)?

It's kind of weird that this one doesn't have red cloth under the gauntlets while Avengers did. I think I might pick up some cloth myself and put some in the gauntlets and under the neck.

in reference to people wanting or not wanting the Avengers Thor. Remember the older versions usually go for high prices considering they are no longer available. Look at the earlier Batman, Iron Man, Joker, Black Widow figures. Asking prices are high.

For those of you wondering about using the Dark World Thor to upgrade your Avengers version, I was planning on doing this since I bought mine. I just got it in today, and the figure's body armor hadn't even cooled down yet from riding in the UPS truck before I was taking it apart! The glue holding the armor together and also the "skirt" securing the pants are the only things in your way that come permanently attached from the factory. The rest is a simple parts swap. I'd recommend using the longer neck peg that came with the Avengers Thor body too.

End result? I'm quite happy with how this turned out, and it's amazing what a simple head and arm upgrade can do to an old figure! Another plus is that the hammer can be raised over his head quite easily!

I was able to get Light Armor version on SS on Tues when a bunch of them popped up. And (as I hang my head in shame) I'm thinking about getting the armored version too. They really nailed the HS and it looks full of bad assery!

I gave up on getting the Light armor version and went with the regular version, which was a choice I was happy with, however when sideshow got another batch of the light armor version I couldn't resist:monkey3

Fantastic job on this, real cool to see the armors side by side and I must admit the head and body up-grade brings that figure right up to date, looks like it was just released:clap:clap:clap

Great review Skull! Congrats on Thor. :)

Thanks very much:duff

Awesome! I was planning on doing just that with the Avengers Thor I will be getting from The Skull. :). Quick question, any difference between Avengers Mjolnir and Dark World Mjolnir, or is it all the same?

Its going to look fantastic from the looks of it, can't wait to see yours:) From memory the avengers hammer has a lighter brown handle and no detail on the butt of the hammer but the metal part is the same.

You should have Avengers Thor tomorrow, thanks again:duff

Yeah, there's definitely up and down movement with the shoulders. Mine is rubbing off a little but that's because I like to pose his shoulders closer to his body. Then by turning the arms, some paint rubs off. But don't really matter to me, since he looks weird in a pose with his arms raised. Would rather show his biceps or triceps with a simple, intimidating, Thor pose.
