I have to see the arm. Winter Soldier is Winter Soldier because of the arm.

I thought he was the winter soldier because he only does missions during the Winter :dunno

Nope. It's the arm.

What's wintery about the arm? I guess with the star and the silver its a little christmasy

No, it's because Winter is cold and metal gets cold.

Guys he's called the Winter soldier because he was recovered by the Russians, taken to Moscow, converted and served as an assassin for the Soviets, hence the red star on his shoulder. He was kept in a cryogenic state when not on covert missions because of his mental instability.

I thought he has a red star cause he's American?

He worked for Hydra not the Russians, but I guess they could be one in the same, or Hydra put the star on his arm to make everyone think he was Russian because Hydra was trying to stay hidden

What he said. Though now that I think of it ... was the Russian part of his backstory covered in the movie at all? It was a pretty major part of the comics.

No they changed it or it was never explained, the only thing we know is that he was found by Hydra, was given a similar serum to Steve's, kept frozen during missions and had his mind wiped between missions and that he carried out assassinations throughout the second half of the 20th century. I believe he also spoke Russian(I'm not sure) on the freeway during the movie

I thought Bucky was given some sort of serum at the time when Steve rescued him from the POW camp. It looked like he was on some operating table or something. And that was how he was able to survive the fall from the train.

Arrived in Germany 1 Week ago and i love him! Had some issues with his Headjoint but overall i´m very happy with him :D

A red star is a Soviet/Russian symbol, as opposed to the U.S. white star. Anytime you hear of red in terms of government or politics it refers to communism, e.g. Red army etc. China

In the comics he worked for the Russians, hence where he got his name. Obviously the film twists the story a little. Like the origins of Ultron.
