Re: Hot Toys - MMS 249 - The Joker (Bank Robber Version 2.0) - 1/6 - TF Exclusive...

No. I was relieved of my duties at the beginning of June.

It was just the part where you said "you had the chance to finally see the EB Joker in person earlier today" sounded kind of funny to me.

How did this happen? I just pictured you flying to a collectors house in a nearby state after communicating on this website for the last two months trying to come up with a date to schedule this event and you both agreed today would be the best day to do so. After finallyseeing it and studying the figure you guys made small talk for about 15 minutes before you had to take a taxi to catch your flight home. And when you got back you turned your computer on to come on here and post about how you finally saw it in person.

Hmm..... Ok?

So, how was it like being a mod uh? Sorry, an assistant to one.

Lets just say, at the end of the day I really felt like I was making a difference. Only problem was that it consumed A LOT of my time.

Anyways man, where did you see the EB Joker? You can PM if you don't wanna say on here.

Why would you think that

Re: Hot Toys - MMS 249 - The Joker (Bank Robber Version 2.0) - 1/6 - TF Exclusive...

I don't see a lot of Ledger in any of the sculpts, but I always liked the dx01 figure. The facial expression and the makeup with the pursed lips and the angry eyes was very specific to the mob meting scene.

Anyway, although I see a bit more Ledger on the DX11, I like how the DX01 looks when you give it certain poses :)

While I agree with you that it captures the facial expression from the mob scene, it still doesn't look a thing like Ledger. I honestly don't get how anyone can like that sculpt but each to their own.

Also, I think the problem with HT, is that they always sculpt THE JOKER, not Heath Ledger. They should make a sculpt that looks like Ledger ...and THEN, add the scars, so that it looks like Ledger wearing makeup, like some of the custom sculpts out there. If you take the makeup away from the DX11, the joker personality is there, but not the Ledger Likeness...well..maybe a little bit, IMO.

The PERS, duck jaw shape and tiny nose is what ruins both the likeness and realism of the DX11. Here is a modded DX11 with those issues fixed.

I finally had the chance to see the EB Joker in person earlier today.

You know, for all the hate EB gets (warranted for them crap bodies) they do know how to do head sculpts really well.

It really beats the hell out of HT's 200th attempt.

I agree but it is hard to see the likeness from the stock paint. The sculpt needs to be repainted to really bring out the likeness.

I think this is the best looking Joker sculpt I've seen....or at least my favorite. I want something like this from HT, more affordable.

Even though it lacks the Joker personality look since it just has a neutral expression?

I just read that Gu custom head is over 2k? FFS it better be solid gold.

U just found this out? Where have u been?! :horror

With a bit of work, the 1/4 EB sculpt is by far the best Ledger Joker out there IMO..
It's the only one that actually looks like him.

You need psychiatric help.

Get out for a bit.

Agreed. I honestly don't get how people can think anything by Hot Toys is better, but yours looks so much better than the stock because u reduced the chin. Nevertheless, even a repaint can make all the difference without the chin mod.

That looks great.

U going to get it franpincho?

Joker sculpts. Joker sculpts, everywhere.

I think there are some talented guys here who can definitely improve the likeness, but I would not shell out even $100 for a sculpt. It's a combo of not being that rich, being happy (enough) with the stock figures, and not feeling comfortable giving large sums of money for unlicensed product. And when it comes to the rooted hair, at best I find it to be "okay", but for the most part I find it hurts the overall look.

I can't tell if Jeff12burq and franpincho are friends poking fun at each other or genuinely hostile but not wanting to resort to insulting outright. Since this is the DC section, I'm going to guess "hostile". :lol

Yeah, I've never been so bothered with the official Joker sculpts that I felt all that compelled to get a custom one (though I was tempted by the Majestic sculpt recently), but I do realize that they are all flawed in their way.

Yeah unfortunately for me I am not happy with the stock figures, so if I can make my figure look better I will spend the money (within reason) to get a modded one. And I am not rich also, I just pass on other figures because having a decent Ledger Joker to me is more important than buying a bunch of mass produced figures. But each their own man.

Yeah I can't argue there, have yet to see anybody perfect it except Lalla.

I'm still not entirely sure if I'm going to pull the trigger on this. I look at the pics on page 1 and am not overly impressed by them, but I like these shots:

And this sculpt looks better at an angle (the face looks chubby to me when viewed straight on):

It'll come down to pricing and available rewards points for me, I guess.
