We all need to just decide for ourselves what our limit is. Will HT have their bubble burst on them? Maybe, maybe not, maybe not for a few years yet.

I've been cutting way back anyway for a bunch of reasons and the more money I save the less I seem to want to spend, I've transferred my addictive tendencies towards 'collecting' cash. And during this time I've become very much aware of the expense of these things, I just didn't care before. It was buy, buy, buy, what's another 300, buy. Now the stuff coming out that my collector brain 'needs' is very much at odds with my aforementioned new addiction. I'm gonna have to decide if I go ahead and buy those things, some of them I no doubt will buy like the new T-800 - but things like Back to the Future, if it ever ****ing happens before their license expires, I may now pass on where before it seemed 'a must'. And its because they're going to be expensive and I'm just not sure I want to spend this kind of money on toys any more.

Yes I feel the same way- when I cut back and save a few hundred here and there it feels responsible- am I becoming an "adult" ????:lol

As far as Hot Toys' bubble bursting, I can definitely say that $300 for a new figure is my cut-off point. Luckily I should have pretty much every figure I want before Hot Toys reaches that threshold. I'm one of those people who doesn't need 38 different versions of Iron Man. One is enough for me; same goes for all the other superheroes.

Now, if HT were to start producing Buffy figures, then I'd have to open up my wallet, but I don't think Buffy has ever even been on their radar.

Okay, and Farscape. I'd pay through the nose for Farscape too.

The biggest problem is that Hot Toys has no direct competition, they run a monopoly on the 1/6 market. There is no reason for them to offer better product or prices. Until someone can release products of similar quality at a lower price from licenses people care about, nothing will change. As soon as another company tries something new that gets peoples attention, HT will immediately try to squash it to maintain that control on the market.

Cost is a big factor for me. 1/6 collecting stopped being fun when the prices went over $200. Back when figures like Rambo cost $75 or Jedi Luke cost $60, they were still toys. You could pose them non stop and enjoy them. They were what we wished our figures had been like when we were kids. Now I find the high costs make you paranoid in handling them. Collectors constantly scrutinize every detail and flip out over the smallest imperfections (as they should for a $300 doll). It's just not fun anymore. Nowadays I'd rather drop $300 on something like the Lego Sandcrawler that I will get hours of enjoyment from than a figure I will open, look at for two seconds and put in a sealed cabinet to never touch again until I end up selling it.

I think you nailed it to certain extent. They have dominance in the 1/6 scale. But other companies have been upping their sculpts and these skilled artists will eventually be free to work for other companies. Some of the recent bootleg figures look pretty good like the Morgan Freeman CEO and the Jim Carrey Riddler figure, should Hot Toys become too expensive for the average consumer one of these companies would fill that void I think.

I doubt it.

What I'm waiting for to leak is the shot of what went down 5 minutes prior to that pic; Chan whipping an choking those poor women with that air hose

:lolActually i have to disagree with him a lot. **** and Pillage. awful choice of words....give me a break!!! You gotta blame the Secondary market FIRST!! HTs cant just sit there and put up figures for $160 and see the 2nd Market selling them for $450+ during PO time. If things sell out and then go up on eBay because the value went up, thats one thing. But figures are constantly 2 to 3 times the cost on eBay and other markets during PO stage, and hundreds and thousands of people buy them. And the ones who like to pay more to get them first keep growing every day. This is the consumer behavior. We the customers have done this. If we didnt pay $450 to PO a figure off eBay, the figures would probably go up less in price than they have. But even still you cant expect things to cost the same today compared to 2008 or 2010, etc. Gas in 2008 was $1.87...now its close to $4.00, or over $4.00 in areas. That itself makes EVERYTHING go up in price production wise. It effects EVERYTHING. And thats only 1 of many things that cause things to go up in price.

And if Iminime could produce 8,000 of a figure, he would not be able to charge $160 each figure either. It would cost wayyyy more than that. There are 1:6 companies out there making a subpar products compared to HTs but charging the same or more for their licensed figures.

If you can't keep up with the "market", then there isn't a lot you can do. You cant blame just HTs or the toy companies. "We" have to take a lot of the blame ourselves.

I'm too tired to respond to this now. We shall continue this tomorrow :lol

The bubble has certainly burst for me. HT has poor communication and their sudden re-releases feel like a kick in the teeth. I'll be on the lookout for Batman Returns and when the JL movie figures come out (the second one) I'll look to collect that lineup but I don't care what else HT makes at this point. I was interested in Tonto but he was too expensive. Still, I would've probably gone for it but where is the Lone Ranger? No one knows and HT just says nothing. Forget it then, the time where I would've paid for the figure has passed. I just saved myself at least $400

:lol honestly no need to. Im pretty tired of the pricing conversation anyway. We all have our own thoughts about it. I rather talk about positive things about collecting. these arguments and debates don't matter much. sorry for the long rant earlier. :)

This might go up today or tomorrow, press release from today

Just to get this thread back on topic.

I hope the repainted Bank Robber sculpt paint job will look as accurate as this because this looks just like Heath on that angle and this how I plan to display my figure.

And for anyone that thinks that Iminime produce horrible products, I suggest you check out this review by Neny Dee.

As an owner of one of Iminime's products, I don't think any 1/6th company comes as close to them at producing likeness and realism. Their paint jobs and head sculpts are second to none since they have such great artist like Trevor Grove sculpting for them. IMO Their Wall street Killer Bale head sculpt is still the best likeness to Bale I have ever seen! :rock

However, I have to agree, that their quality might not be as good as Hot Toys though.

So say you missed the window when it first goes up because of internet loss, what do the chances look like that you'll be able to order the next day, in your delightful opinion?

Also, might need to raise your brightness up, does the masked head have front facing eyes or eyes looking off to the side?

I have a feeling there will be plenty to go around, I think exclusive is just a fancy word to have 3 Remade figures released for SDCC

Yeah there's a good chance it wont sell out in the first few days, possibly weeks but you cant be sure without knowing the production number.... I'd say you will get plenty of time

If I ever open this guy, I think this pose would be great
Batman-The.Dark.Knight.2008.IMAX.Bluray.1080p.DTS-MA.5.1.x264.dxva-BluHD.mkv_snapshot_00.03.57_[.jpg
head turned slightly :lol

I just wish the mask was removable so you could have him holding it

I just threw that out there as a joke. I wasn't basing it on anything I'd seen or looked up. But it wouldn't be very far from the truth. :lol
