I really, really, (really), mean no offense in this because the level of detail involved in the custom sculpt is really, really, (really) nice, but looking strictly at likeness, are there really people out there who REALLY think the custom is better than the Hot Toys production sculpt?

Please understand I know the custom is work I could never do, and I think Inigo is awesome, but i honestly think that if this custom had been the Hot Toys release, this forum would be ON FIRE with likeness bashers.

I guess this has been my opinion since the first pics came out, I just didn't want Pixelpiper to hit me. :panic:

That's the most ludicrous thing I've read all year - nothing comes close. If your name is Matt Murdock and you're looking at the photo through a computer screen, then you're forgiven. Otherwise WTF are you talking about?

My daughter can't stop laughing, she was reading over my shoulder - she's 6.

Uh-oh

Ducking my head.

Well I know the Hot Toys paint job, while good looking at skin tone, didn't do the sculpt a lot of favors with the likeness, if we fix that by looking at the J.C. Hong prototype paint and Jazzinc's pait job, to me, there is no comparison looking at this

Compared to this

I even think the Hot Toys sculpt with factory paint is better

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm late for my Braille class.

The Hot Toys sculpt is $20 toy level. The paint is better than that level, but only on the face, not the hair. Doesn't change the fact it looks nothing like Ford, no matter how much you filter or process a photo.

There's nothing subjective about this. It's black and white, right and wrong. You can prefer the HT sculpt, like it more, but that has nothing to do with its likeness. I don't care which sculpts other people like more, but when someone tells me that the HT sculpt looks like Ford, well... Give me a few minutes to stop laughing.

Please don't feel bad, but I think I'm going to take this topic to Facebook to make fun of it. It's not fair the laughing be restricted to this forum.

Give it a rest. Other people can disagree without you trying to belittle their opinion. It's not black and white either. Even you disagree with you.

It's improved by an immeasurable amount. The first sculpt was completely unacceptable and this one is passable, it has a Ford likeness and a Ford/solo expression for the most part. ... there's really no mistaking this for Harrison Ford now.

In some photos I still stand by my older comment - but I've had the figure in hand and what's true for some select photos is not true of the sculpt in person. I'm glad people disagree because it enabled me to sell the sculpt quickly.

I take offence to someone belittling one of the talented artists producing custom sculpts. To even compare the two pieces is an insult - to the artist and to good taste.

The majority of artists working in 1/6 don't visit SFF and for good reason.

I agree with you, and I have no problem with pixel trying to make himself feel better by belittling me over my opinion (I've agreed with him once this lifetime and it makes me feel physically sick whenever I think about it).

How about you stop bullying people who disagree with you?

I respect your opinion, and I realise it must be difficult to read criticism of something you've not only spent a lot of money on, but to some extent invested your reputation in after all the time you've spent going to town on how bad HT figures are. The sculpt you've posted a photo of looks like a wonderful piece of work with a wonderful paint job, and I would be proud to own it. But in my opinion it is a stylised rendition of Ford with several obvious faults - the overly full bottom lip, slightly elongated face, too-tall forehead and excessively primped hair. Out of the box there's nothing wrong with preferring the HT production sculpt, especially when you see what a repaint like JazzInc's can bring out. It's a perfectly valid opinion, as is yours, and there's nothing laughable about it.

What's somewhat laughable is the increasingly desperate attacks you're making on a line of figures that virtually everybody agrees is far from perfect, even people like me who love them.

I hope you're not offended by what I'm saying, and I do often see the wisdom in your comments but I feel you've overstepped the mark with your last few posts here.

The HT sculpt certainly isn't perfect but JazzInc's repaint of it is a million times better than the custom pixel has. The hair on the custom is especially terrible.

Unfortunately I can't rep you again without spreading it around more (although that makes me feel 'cheap'), but ****ing A.

:clap

Is there really a $20 toy with a Ford likeness, sculpt, paint app on the same level as the HT Solo? Objectively speaking, of course.

:exactly: :clap

One of the things that irks me is when people are under the impression that their opinions are more valid than yours, their personal rights mean more than yours and that if you don't agree with them on their opinions or beliefs, then you're wrong.

And the most ironic thing is that the ones who seem to do this the most, are the ones that preach "tolerance".

Jar-Jar was EXTREMELY respectful with his comment. No matter what you think of either head sculpt, there is no justification for him being laughed at and mocked. WE should be insulted and offended by this treatment of one of our own.

And for the record, though no one holds Inigo in anything but respect on this forum, his ANH Han sculpt is a clear miss. The Hot Toys likeness is not perfect, but based on what I've seen, it is clearly superior (in my opinion of course), and I won't be apologizing to anyone for holding that view.

But like I said on FB

If you've put the money into this sculpt and you are happy with it in your collection what more do you need? Is it a necessity to try and convince everyone to have the same opinion as you? Like I said, end of the day it's all subjective. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. People see different things. Your happiness shouldnt require others to like the same thing you like.
I prefer the HT to this. Does the fact that you like this version hinder my enjoyment out of my HT, oh hell no. Do I think it's an insult to intelligence that you think the HT isn't Ford. Hell no. I don't give a ****. And Im not here trying to convince you or others to have the same opinion as me. Because I dont give a ****. Lol I love the whole HT SW line up on my shelf. Stock and all.

Let people enjoy what they want to enjoy. It's not hurting anything.

Inigo did a nice paint job, but I think he went a little light overall. I think Rahmier's paint shows a little better. Might just be the shot though...
