Yeah, it took me forever to actually realize it was coming back over and over, it was so subtle and pretty slow I thought I just didn't get all of it the last time I wiped it.Yea I was reposing my Han a couple days ago while putting some leather protectant on the boots and such and was wondering what and where the little white fuzzy dust was coming from on the vest. I just wiped it off but I thought it was some weird left over superglue "dust" from gluing the neck adapter into the Jnix sculpt. That's probably way wrong though
Those Dooku boots look really good on your Han @TaliBane Even though I don't mind the stock boots, I was noticing the odd creases at the ankles.
RE: the shirt collar changing color - I kept the wire in, just used some spray-n-wash and detergent to hand washed the shirt. That seemed to work for me. It hasn't changed color again since and that was within the first year of its release.
And thanks, yeah the Dooku boots look very much like real leather boots. What doesn't quite come across in that kinda weak pic above is that this customized figure looks very much like a shrunken down HF/Han Solo, like a little living person the way the HT Tarkin does, lamost a little eerie. I didn't like any of the other versions of the Jnix Harrison Ford head (as ESB, as Indy etc) but this head is just so good. It somehow perfectly captures the essence of Han in ANH better than anything I've ever seen at any scale.
Yeah, I'd have to assume that's what it was. I thought about using the non-bleach stuff but this fuzz has been so persistent I wanted this to be the a-bomb treatment that nothing could survive. I'd just gotten tired of taking the vest off.Mine's gone yellowy-orange, same as the strip on the Bank Robber Joker's shirt where the buttons are.
It's got to be the glue seeping through.
While it's annoying, because the stock figure has changed in an unwanted way, it doesn't actually stand out as being really wrong. On both figures it sort of looks like a grubby sweat stain.
I don't have any white fuzz on the vest, but that does sound like mildew. I've had it previously on figures, before I controlled the humidity.
It seemed to like the pleather on ACI's gladiators, and was pretty bad on the great coats of my two BBK Jonah Hex figures. However, with the latter I'd used water treatment to shape the cape on the coat, so the dampness probably just accelerated the mildew growth, and then the spores spread.
To clean it off I used a non-bleach anti-mould spray. I sprayed it onto a cloth, and wiped the cloth over the affected areas.
It was a pain to have to dye it black again (it went dark brown, still black in places) but I'd already created Greedo's vest from a HT Han vest, so it wasn't a huge deal. The redyed vest actually looks a bit more like a "real" vest than it did before, maybe because the black isn't quite as uniform.
I had a theory that the white stuff was somehow linked to those crayon fabric marks they use at the factory (that Leia Hoth famously had visible on some figs) - it's on the inside of the fabric, but who knows. Hopefully I've seen the last of it.
I keep humidity absorbers behind all the displays and run a dehunidiier whenever the humidty gets higher but I guess humidity is impossible to fully get rid of.
