Re: Hot Toys Obi-Wan Kenobi Sixth Scale Figure

Hot Toys Han Solo figure is $229.99 so it'll be at least that kind of money, maybe more.
That is price in my local po...maybe add 30-40 to sideshow

But Han Solo has a bigger fan base and is way more widely known and could be sought after in terms of people getting into 1/6.

Old Ben, on the other hand, while having his own fanbase, will really only appeal to completionists and his fans

Pricing him the same as Han would just cause him to peg warm so bad. especially with his accessories (well, accessory, since I don't count hands)

Tweaked or shopped? BTW where's the Leia reveal. Carrie F. Is coming to my local fan expo in April. Oh, I have many questions to ask her: what did that filth ridden's tongue taste like in ROTJ?

Looks like they tweaked the sculpt? Looks a lot better compared to what we've seen at conventions.

Definitely.

Eyes more open, more length to the beard.

I'll be happy if it costs less, didn't like the likeness of Han so never ordered it..., the likeness of Alec Guinness though is very impressive (in my opinion). :)

Figures are not priced based on how popular they are with fans. Figures are priced according to how much they cost to make.

It's definitely a huge improvement, although I still don't think it does quite enough to capture Guinness. For all its lack of detail, I still think the Sideshow sculpt does a much better job of that.

Still though, it al least bodes well for Han and Chewie, and the chances of seeing those greatly improved.

Re: Hot Toys Obi-Wan Kenobi Sixth Scale Figure

This looks way better than what was initially shown. I'm going to pre-order this one right away, shouldn't be too expensive I wouldn't think. The only thing that might make the price high is the light up lightsaber but I don't think it'll add that much cost.

Head sculpt looks great. Definitely one of HT's best so far. Hope it holds up in the production pieces for you guys.

Looks great! Maybe all the whiners will change their tune (yeah right)

I think I just cancelled my plans to look at getting a SSC Ben to repaint.

That may not be 100% better, but it's pretty damn close. Even those hands... old man hands...:lol

I paid $300 for SS old Ben on ebay, and I'm so glad I did. This HT version looks extremely poor in the face; doesn't capture Alec at all. The Sideshow sculpt is much more accurate. The SS hands are wonky clones, shared by Farmboy Luke, Smuggler Han, Rebel Trooper and others... but I can forgive that. Even the hands on this HT release look really odd. The 'pointing-fingers' pose appears to be an attempt to depict a so-called 'force push' which Ben never even used. The 'Jedi mind trick' was a much more casual gesture when Ben did it. That HT hand just needs a bit of lube, and he's ready to perform a 'Jedi Probe' on Luke... and in the film, Alec's hands didn't look like 'old man hands' anyway. They looked like normal mature male hands, and could have belonged to a 40 year old or a 75 year old. (Look at his hands in the film)

Something tells me the people who made this are young, (weren't yet alive for the original films) and they're putting too much of the 2nd trilogy ideas into this OT figure, including the gleaming clean robe, the 'force push', and... old geezer hands.
*happy to pass*

Not there yet.
Nope, but it's a lot better than it was. Still, with our dollar the way it is, I'm not pre-ordering anything more than what I've got. I'll bide my time on old Ben. Just hope the eyes closed sculpt is not an exclusive... HT seems to be pretty cheap with them nowadays, though, and an additional sculpt is probably too coveted not to include with the main set. (If it's included at all -- guessing it was just a mock-up in that initial teaser?)

I must have horrible eyes and/or taste but that looks pretty dang close to spot on to me.
