Oh nice, I guess the Heart isn't an EX. Time to not buy from SS and save me like 50 bucks.

There's no Exclusive, but as in the preview photos, they list:

Special Bonus Accessory:

  • One (1) Ultron’s heart

What's up with that? It's just another accessory. :dunno

Directors are supposed to have final cut.

I don't think that is wise for properties like superhero films. NO studio wants a director to be able to have the right to go "full Ang Lee" and just have their heroes sitting in the desert staring at bushes for several minutes at a time. They must have a contingency against directors who lose their minds and put the franchise at risk.

Obviously that gives the studio the right to veto good things as well, but better that than the alternative.

Man that payment window is the worst. Holding off for since there is no exclusive.

Nolan had final cut on every Batman film. Look how that turned out.

*TDK & TDKR were both on the shortlist for Best Picture in the 2009 and 2013 Oscars.

Directors are supposed to have final cut. Marvel having final cut on their films isn't something that's necessarily good, specially when it challenges the filmmaker.

Whedon could have kept him alive and fulfilled their wishes (done them the marketing favor) but chose to remain true to his original vision - which served as a way to spite them. In the first film, he budged on many things for them that he didn't wanna do originally.

Marvel is a different beast entirely. Studios will almost always have the final say regardless...eventually a director's cut may appear, but most of the time, as far as the studio is concerned, the release is what it is.

The studio didn't want to keep him alive when all was said and done, and that's why he stayed dead. Whedon couldn't have put his foot down and made it happen magically. They agreed with him that Quicksilver should stay dead, and that's why he did. There was no spite in the choice, regardless of how Whedon felt about the experience afterwards. It was always his true vision, and in the end the studio agreed with it.

That's Marvel Studios in a nutshell...the overall plan comes before any director's individual wishes. That's why changes were made behind the camera on Ant-Man a ways back. It's not for everyone.

If so then they got lucky. That doesn't make it a wise move. Plus those films didn't feature heroes from half a dozen standalone series. If Nolan screwed up then they'd just reboot which they're doing anyway. Not so with the Avengers.

Those were self-contained movies, not part of a huge, ongoing movie universe that's trying to tie in dozens of films. Those are in no way comparable to the MCU. The same thing that happened with studio choices with Marvel will happen with the upcoming DC Universe.

If Marvel Studios wanted Quicksilver alive he would be alive. They would never allow one of their directors to kill off a character they were interested in keeping.

Universe or not, its all driven by money. TDK and TDKR made as much money as the Avengers films did without 3D. The fact that Nolan had complete control is a testament to how WB respected and above all trusted the filmmaker they hired - to do his job.

Whedon has said countless times that he doesn't expect people that watch his movies to have seen the other dozen Marvel films released beforehand. He makes a story that's self serving and if it doesn't work on its own he wouldn't be making it at all.

Marvel's ongoing battles with its filmmakers suggests a troubled approach to filmmaking that is bound to catch up with them.

I always thought they could use QS in AoU on the contingency it was one appearance and he died. I thought he was owned by Fox as part of the X-Men rights. But then so is SW, and she is in future films.

My head hurts.

Price is decent so I'll wait to pick her up when she hits in stock. She does look fantastic!

Well no. Not really. If filmmakers are on board with the on goings of the universe then they're fine. As far as I know, everyone but Alan Taylor and most recently, Joss Whedon has been on board with the overall MCU plan. It's literally JUST like making the comic books. Everyone has gotta communicate with each other and make sure that everyone knows what's going on in the universe and write their stories around it while still telling their own great stories. They're just on board with it. And I believe they're using the same template with their films and so far, I think it's been really damn magnificent. Hell, that's one of the reasons why I love and read comics. One thing always affects another in some sort of way while still telling their own amazing story.

Fox and Marvel both have movie rights to the characters. It comes down to the actual names. I believe Marvel can't actually say Scarlet Witch/Quicksilver and Fox can't call them Wanda/Pietro.

Ordered from BBTS to avoid the NRD. Bring on Quicksilver!

She's kind of got those Black Widow zombie eyes. Price is higher than I thought too.

I think it's also because of affiliation. Wanda and Pietro first appeared in X-Men but have been part of Avengers WAAAY more so that's why they're able to share the rights. Black Panther and the Inhumans also first appeared in Fantastic Four but ever since their first appearance, they've always done their own thing. Hell, Kingpin's first appearance is in The Amazing Spider-Man but was always just part of Daredevil ever since.
